Here’s the full scene as Rory McIlroy’s wife Erica got hit with a beer (glanced off her hat) on Saturday afternoon. Rory and Lowry had just won on 18 and he was coming back to 17 to cheer on the groups behind — and celebrate with Euro fans. Looked like someone hit the drink out of another guy’s hand.

Holy smokes — this angle shows how absolutely miraculous it was that nobody got hit.

golf equivalent: you need to hole out from 275 yards on the 18th hole to force a playoff. you wait for the green to clear, pull 3-wood ... then you drill one off the tree directly in front of you. it ricochets back and hits your caddie square in the face

2 fun facts about Max Homa’s new caddie Bill Harke: 1. Claims to be the first person to catch a pass from Tom Brady in organized football (1991 Junipero Serra High freshman team; Brady, the backup, went in for garbage time vs. St. Francis) 2. Has an absolute cannon for an arm

Before we get carried away with the "greatest drive ever" stuff, let's not forget Robert McIntyre hit it even closer on the same hole in 2021 — and drove it into Dustin Johnson's group in the process

the driving range at a major championship is such a cool place. because at first it’s like, hey, look! Rory and Cam Young hitting next to each other! which quickly becomes whoa, what’s Padraig Harrington doing

Anthony Kim didn’t earn a single point his first two LIV seasons. That wasn’t shocking—he’d been retired for over a decade! But when he got relegated, seemed like maybe that was it for the comeback. It wasn’t, he earned his way back, now this. Impossible

Credit to an emotional Billy Horschel for taking questions after an opening 84. We usually hear from the guys near the top of the leaderboard — this is a good reminder how demoralizing the bottom can feel.

“Can I just watch it? I haven’t seen it.” Fascinating moment in JJ Spaun’s presser where he paused to watch his water ball on 17, which was playing in the background:

Peter Malnati on why his win resonated: “I think people are just sick of the narrative in golf being about contracts on LIV, purses on the Tour, guaranteed comp on the Tour. I think people are so sick of that.” “No kid dreamed, when they were watching Jordan, of having his salary, they didn't care about that. They dreamed of being in that moment, hitting that shot. I think that's what our fans care about too and that's what they want to see.”

Seems like the PGA Tour wants the “5th major” debate back on. The Players Championship just dropped this new ad. Should get you fired up for TPC Sawgrass — but it’s the half-second at the end that’s going to raise eyebrows: “March is going to be major.”

HATTON: “Well, he looks scary, doesn’t he? But he’s like a big teddy bear.” RAHM: “Why do people say I look scary?” HATTON: “It’s probably something to do with being a f—- unit and being like, 6-foot-3 when you’re a 5-foot-8 hobbit. Unnerving.”

It’s so satisfying watching Keegan Bradley win — I think that’s because he acts the way we hope we would in his position. Like he genuinely can’t believe how cool it is. As fired up after No. 7 as No. 1. What a win. I’d play for this guy

Bethpage Black is known for being very hard. Team USA (plus a bunch of rain) decided to make it very easy. That’s not WHY Europe is winning. But it’s safe to say the home-course strategy hasn’t gone particularly well…

Had only seen snippets of this Tyrrell Hatton video but the longer cut is magnificent. From vulnerable ("It's gonna hurt a lot for a long time") to testy ("What kind of question's that?!") to watching J.J. Spaun's 65-footer in awe ("Unbelieeevable") all in 2 minutes. What a ride
