Viktor Hovland says he’s been struggling with visualising shots and has been seeing shots that he didn’t even think were possible. I think this is something that anyone who’s played competitive golf can relate to: “That's one of the things that's been very difficult, especially when you've been going through some struggles like I have. “Some of the shots that I've seen are just like, Whoa, how is that even possible? Like, I've never seen some of those shots before. Then I've had moments where, okay, I think I'm onto something, it feels good, and then that one big miss comes back again. “So even if you're playing good golf it's still kind of in the back of your mind a little bit, like, Oh, are we over it, are we good. And you have a little bit of doubt still in there, even though you're hitting good shots. I don't know if there's like this one point where you go, Oh, I got it now, it just kind of those big misses stop happening and then you just expect to see the ball going straight. Kind of like what happened this week. “Because even U.S. Open last week, I thought I drove it a lot better, but I had one big miss on the 12th hole out there in the left-to-right wind that went OB, so I had one bad shot that cost me two shots for the tournament and I missed the cut by a shot. “Canada was a lot better. But still it felt like I was maybe guiding it a little bit, not quite as comfortable as I would have liked. But it was definitely a huge step in the right direction. So I've been like progressing the whole way, but still having a little bit of doubt in there. But this week I just kind of went to work and felt comfortable.” PGA Tour TravelersChamp

After Rory McIlroy’s comments about Bryson DeChambeau at The Open, Scottie Scheffler was asked ahead of the 3M Open if he thinks rivalries are good for golf: “I think golf's different in a sense of a lot of other sports because my biggest rival week in and week out is the golf course that we're playing. I mean, I could never stop somebody from doing anything in golf. I felt like when I played basketball there would always be rivalries in basketball because you're going to play defense against a person and that is much more personal in a sense like because I'm actively trying to stop -- like if you and I were going to go out and play one-on-one, like it would turn into a rivalry because I'm actively trying to stop what you're doing, but in golf, we're always competing against ourselves on the golf course. “I've never been a big fan of personal jabs. "It's a bit devastating. I hit the wrong shot at the wrong time on the lay up. I left myself the toughest shot on the fairway bunker and I wasn't able to pull it off. Overall, it's been a fantastic week. "I've played some of the best golf of my life. I was in contention and I wasn't really that nervous, maybe only the 72nd hole. I managed to hit a good tee shot and unfortunately a bad second shot, but it's been a great week and I'm really glad for it."
