Prince Edward is the youngest son of Queen Elizabeth II. Being practically the last in line to the throne, he never expected to be able to become the ruler of Great Britain, and therefore enjoyed the privileges of a member of the royal family, and was free to choose his education and work. Like his older brother Charles, Edward went to Cambridge, where he majored in history, and received his degree in 1986. At the age of 23, Edward became a production assistant for such iconic musicals as Cats and The Phantom of the Opera. But the prince's own productions were a failure, and he switched from theater to television. In 1993, Edward founded his own company, which produced documentaries about British rulers, palaces and other elements of the sweet life. Edward is the only one of Elizabeth and Philip's children who has not gone through a divorce and the accompanying scandals, and is truly happy in family life.
