So this week I had my first major issue with my Tesla. My driver’s side daytime running light stopped working. I was worried that dealing with this was going to be a major hassle. Here’s what happened: I opened up my app, tapped service, selected my issue and uploaded a photo. Fast forward to Wednesday, Tesla mobile service came to my home, I met the technician (Hi Andrew!) outside, he swapped the entire headlight assembly and wrapped up within an hour. I didn’t even stick around, he did all the work and locked up without me. Under warranty, $0. Mobile service was fantastic, setup and tracking in App was perfect.

Here’s a thing that is genuinely concerning about Mark Carney so far: His propensity to just casually lie. This morning, he was asked about Sean Fraser running again for the Liberals. With a lengthy pause and a laugh, he said he didn’t know if Fraser would run. This afternoon, Fraser emphatically and repeatedly indicated the decision was made last night. And of course it was, there was a whole campaign event planned around it today. It’s eerily reminiscent of the Brookfield lie post Liberal leadership debate. These are easily verifiable things he should not be lying about, but he thinks he’ll just be able to say it and not get caught or questioned? Or is he not being prepped by staff enough and it’s a nervous reaction? Either way - this is going to catch up with him.

Tesla’s FSD has become really good at day-to-day driving, and it’s now performing like a human in very complex scenarios. Here’s video from last Friday, during afternoon rush hour. There’s a broken down pickup truck in the middle of the three open lanes in the Ville-Marie tunnel. Lights indicate that lane is closed. My car is in the leftmost lane, which suddenly also comes to a standstill, after police show up and an officer exits his vehicle and stops traffic. When it appears that the left lane will not start moving again, FSD moves my car two lanes over the right. 🤯 It then curves around a pothole in that lane, following how the car ahead handled it. 🤯 Honestly if it wasn’t for how bad Montreal roads are with potholes, I would hardly be driving myself at all.
