🚨 WATCH 🚨Maidstone Man Convicted of Attempted Murder of Police Officer A Maidstone man has been found guilty of the attempted murder of a police officer after carrying out a vicious attack during an incident at his flat in 2023. Robert Jenner, 34, stabbed the officer repeatedly with a pair of scissors, inflicting more than 20 wounds in a frenzied assault. The officer had attended Jenner's home in Albion Place as part of an investigation into reports of indecent exposure. Violent Incident Unfolds The attack occurred on the evening of 15 June 2023, after police received a report of a man running naked in Mote Park. The description matched Jenner, who had been released from prison just two days earlier for similar offences. Officers arrived at his flat around 20:00 but were met with resistance. Jenner refused to cooperate and barricaded his door with furniture. When officers eventually forced entry, Jenner, who was naked, fled into a darkened room. As one officer entered the room by climbing over a sofa, Jenner launched the attack with scissors. The officer sustained serious injuries to his head, face, neck, and limbs, requiring extensive surgery. The assault ended when colleagues subdued Jenner and arrested him. Trial and Conviction Jenner faced trial at Maidstone Crown Court, where he was charged with attempted murder. He pleaded not guilty but refused to attend court proceedings, remaining in his cell. On 10 December 2024, a jury convicted Jenner in his absence. Sentencing will take place at a later date. Police Chief Commends Officers’ Courage Chief Superintendent Neil Loudon praised the officer's bravery, describing the attack as "sustained and savage." “This incident highlights the level of risk our officers can face when attending incidents and of their willingness to face danger to protect others," said Chief Superintendent Loudon. "It is only by pure chance that none of these injuries proved to be fatal." He added, “Jenner poses a serious and substantial threat to the public. His conviction for attempted murder is an important reminder of the courage and selflessness of our police officers that often gets unnoticed.” The injured officer continues to recover from the physical and emotional trauma of the attack. This case underscores the challenges faced by emergency service workers as they navigate dangerous and unpredictable situations daily, often at great personal risk.

The charge follows a Taser chase that left a fleeing suspected burglar paralysed. The jury heard how the officer was terrified after the suspect allegedly used a van as a weapon.
