Blink and you'll miss it 🌑☀️ A total solar eclipse swept across North America yesterday, blocking out the Sun for a few moments. A total solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth and, for a short period, blocks the face of the Sun, save for a visible ring of light, known as the Sun’s corona. These images by the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES-16) captured the moon's shadow casted on Earth's surface moving across North America from 16:00 to 23:00 CEST. 🎥 European Space Agency NOAA Satellites

Both European Space Agency's HydroGNSS satellites have been deployed and are now flying solo. HydroGNSS 1 and 2 are our first Scout mission: they are developed within a limited budget, while offering actionable data to scientists worldwide. HydroGNSS will deliver key insight into Earth's water cycle:

This animation shows hourly measurements of Particulate Matter 10 micrometres or less in diameter (PM10) across the Po Valley from 1 January to 31 January 2024. The data was obtained from Copernicus ECMWF reanalysis modelled data. PM10 plays a pivotal role in the air quality dynamics of the Po Valley. Comprising various particles like dust, pollen and combustion byproducts, PM10 is inhalable and can impact respiratory health.
