"Neuralink was like a gift from God" Powerful words from P7. I had the privilege of interviewing Jake Schneider, Neuralink's 7th patient, about what life is like now having a Neuralink brain implant for 3 months. Jake was diagnosed with ALS a few years ago and says before Neuralink, he felt overcome by hopelessness due to his condition. He says now Neuralink not only enhances his quality of life, but working with the team gives him a sense of purpose. PSA FOR ALL WOMEN ON THE BIRTH CONTROL PILL: Iโve been waiting to share my story until I felt like I had enough time to make my conclusion. Itโs been 2 1/2 months since I stopped taking birth control. I had been on the pill continuously, having no periods whatsoever, for 18 years straight. Thatโs what I was told to do by multiple gynecologists, so I lived my entire adult life not really understanding all that โwomen businessโโฆ I also never questioned the pill, until now. You see, almost all girls my age at that time were put on the pill. It was normal, it was the โresponsible thingโ to do. I recently decided to get off the pill so that I could regulate my body before having a baby, but I had no idea how different I would feel getting off the pill. Iโve never been super anti-pill and Iโm not necessarily now either, but I do want women to know that if you taking this your whole life, you may feel much different getting off of it. Maybe even BETTER (in my case) Iโve had two real cycles now and despite having to deal with a period again, I still would not want to go back on pill. It saddens me to think that I took it all those years thinking it had no impact on me. Now I believe, it did. I never really noticed drastic side effects but I think because Iโve taken it since I was a 15-year-old girl, having the pill in my system became who I was. Iโve noticed, and so has my fiancรฉ and others around me since stopping the pill that I feel much more grounded, trusting of myself, and WAY less anxious. As someone who struggled with chronic anxiety, pure OCD, and mood issues my entire life, I wonder how much of this is attributed to the pill. I feel like young girls are told that it is their burden to carry, or that they need it because God forbid if they have a kid their whole life would be ruined. Iโve never questioned how detrimental the pill would be to my mental health, and now Iโm starting to feel a bit regretful that I didnโt investigate this sooner. Itโs really a personal choice and I hope that more women wake up to the possibilities that are outside of the pill. I wanted to wait for a while before I made my conclusion and I really do feel much different. Ladies, have you gotten off the pill and did it change your life for the better? ๏ฟผ

This is a developing situation. NASA is considering a rare early return of Crew-11 after canceling a planned ISS spacewalk due to an unspecified medical issue with one astronaut. The crew member is stable, but the EVA โ slated for Zena Cardman and Mike Fincke โ was scrubbed. That spacewalk wouldโve tied a career EVA record for Fincke. NASA says all options are on the table. ๐๐

NASA may be handing SpaceX the keys to the Moon!!! According to a Bloomberg article just posted today, instead of Boeingโs SLS rocket doing the heavy lifting, Starship could now dock with Orion in Earth orbit and take astronauts all the way to the lunar surface. Big win for SpaceX, bad news for Boeing, & a major shake-up for Artemis III. ๐๐

A Washington man is shaken up, but still standing after a near head-on collision while driving to Utah after the Tesla Shareholder's meeting. The only reason he's still here for the holidays? He says his Cybertruck SAVED his life, making a split second decision long before a human would be able to intervene. His message is simple, Full Self Driving Supervised saved his life. "But that darn Elon just went and tried it and it worked, and they cancelled our WHOLE program!" Here's an interesting story about how Elon Musk ambitiously skipped to the last step when trying to land on a barge with a rocket, proving supersonic retro-propulsion worked. Phil Metzger knew someone working on a supersonic reentry program at NASA at the time who was shocked Elon was able to skip ahead, thus canceling their need for the program. Failing fast and forward not only saves so much money, but is more efficient and skips over steps you might not need. This lesson could even apply in your own life. This is my favorite part of my recent interview with Dr. Metzger.

Highlights from today's unexpected but MUCH appreciated Boeing Starliner press conference (strange there were no Boeing reps on hand...) NASA just escalated Starliner to a Type A mishap โ and publicly blamed both Boeing and itself. The letter calls out schedule pressure, certification issues, management influence, and leadership failures. This is one of the strongest accountability statements weโve seen from NASA in years. Why is Japan grappling with record-low birth rates? Here's a clip from an interview I did with a local woman who tries to demystify this very complex issue. The Japanese government is no stranger to the issue, with Prime minister Fumio Kishida calling the low births โthe biggest crisis Japan faces." Despite the government offering more support and subsidies mostly for childbirth, children and families, experts doubt whether these efforts will be effective because so far they have largely focused on people who already are married or already are planning to have children, while not adequately addressing a growing population of young people who are reluctant to go that far. The number of births has been falling since 50 years ago, when it peaked at about 2.1 million. The decline to an annual number below 760,000 has happened faster than earlier projections predicting that would happen by 2035. So, why are younger Japanese people discouraged? Surveys cite: *bleak job prospects *the high cost of living *corporate cultures that are not compatible with having both parents work *Crying babies and children playing outside are increasingly considered a nuisance, and many young parents say they often feel isolated. It was interesting to travel to Japan, knowing they had one of the worst declining birth rates around the globe and less people getting married. While I did see a fair amount of children at Disneyland and in the parks, Japan is currently in crisis mode, with experts saying the upcoming six years leading to the 2030s represent Japan's final opportunity to reverse this troubling trend. Russian cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev is definitely on Santa's naughty list this year... Not only was he removed from the upcoming Crew 12 mission for photographing SpaceX hardware and internal documents, but Russia also lost its only launchpad capable of getting to the ISS last week due to a mishap post launch. Yikes! Looks like not only are our American broomsticks most reliable now, but apparently they are good enough to try and copy
