A verdict that cuts deep into Kosovo’s recent history. Former president Hashim Thaçi has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for war crimes committed during the 1998–99 Kosovo war. Three other former senior Kosovo Liberation Army commanders also received prison sentences. The court found Thaçi responsible for crimes including murder, torture and arbitrary detention. He denies the charges and has the right to appeal. The ruling has triggered strong reactions in Kosovo, where Thaçi and the KLA remain symbols of the country’s struggle for independence for many people.

17 people killed. 44 injured. Russia launched another massive attack on Kyiv and the surrounding region, firing 24 ballistic missiles, four cruise missiles, and 115 drones. According to Ukrainian authorities, the main targets were civilian businesses and infrastructure including warehouses, a brewery, logistics facilities, and a railway station. In his response, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy / Володимир Зеленський stressed that more air defense systems and ballistic missile interceptors could help prevent further civilian casualties. He also called on Ukraine's partners to strengthen sanctions on Russia's missile production. The attack is another reminder that civilians and critical infrastructure remain at the center of Russia's campaign against Ukraine.
