@LukasSieperMdEP The fundamental problem with "online" is that it has no restriction on reach, in real life a child can be safe from unwanted encounters but its impossible to achieve that on the internet without complete surveillance. Only alternative is a small whitelist of friends and sites.

The bill, if passed, would require social media services and AI chatbot services to identify, mitigate, and address risks of harm on their platforms, and to develop services that are safe by design and put the safety of children first. Now, there is a proposal to introduce age verification for social media. This would require every user—not just adults, as initially told to us, but also children—to have a digital ID. Age verification has never been successfully implemented anywhere in the world. The only way it can function is through a Digital ID with facial recognition, which would require constant re-scanning of the user’s face, potentially every minute, to confirm identity. This setup would necessitate keeping the computer camera permanently on, exposing children to significant privacy risks, including hacking.
