Progressives (even ones running in swing states like Michigan) aren’t moderating on hot button culture issues. Even after 2024. I can’t figure out if it’s because this is what they actually believe, if it’s because they are terrified of their base, or maybe a little bit of both. Here is Abdul hand waving trans sports/surgeries for minors issues away, and saying that it’s not something most people care about. But it’s a reflection of values. My mom said it to me best: “my financial situation doesn’t change no matter who is in office, but at least republicans have my values when it comes to girls sports” There’s got to be better way forward for Dems on issues like this. Because it makes them look like they don’t have common sense and erodes their authority on other issues where they do have the upper hand, like healthcare

Those who aren’t obsessed are terrified of offending those who are. They have not changed AT ALL, and they are ascendant now. I know because I worked for Abdul and the people around him.
