UPDATE: The guest LIED about the damage! While getting ready to drop the Tesla off at the body shop, I took the time to review dashcam footage from the previous trip to see if I could find the video of the incident that caused this damage. Well, I found a video…but it was from a separate accident! The video shows the guest slowly driving into the rear of a minivan that was stopped at a stoplight. This same minivan is who the guest reported as the other party involved in the accident causing the rear quarter/bumper damage. Therefore, the guest falsely reported the damage report to Turo. Knowing that the Tesla rear ended someone, I took a closer look at the Teslas bumper and found evidence of the impact. I immediately called Turo claims and explained the situation. The claims rep was unsure about being able to also cover the front bumper because I didn’t have photos within 24hrs of the trip ending. However, the guest uploaded photos of not just the damaged rear quarter/bumper, but of the entire car. Therefore, they were able to see the crease in the front bumper and the bent license plate. The claims rep is awaiting supervisor approval then will be submitting the updated claim to Snapsheet, the third party that Turo uses for body shop estimates. Here’s the video of the accident:
