45 years ago... April 14, 1981...spacecraft with no engines glided down and touched down like a giant paper airplane on a dry lakebed in California. Space Shuttle Columbia on STS-1, the very first Shuttle mission, coming in hot over Rogers Dry Lake at Edwards Air Force Base. You see the chase planes, the perfect unpowered approach, wheels kissing Runway 23, and that massive dust cloud as it rolls out. Then the crew... John Young and Robert Crippen... stepping out after 54 hours and 36 orbits in space. This wasn’t just another rocket flight. Columbia proved the Shuttle could launch like a rocket, orbit like a spacecraft, and land like an airplane. Reusable hardware, real test pilots at the controls… it changed everything. The beginning of the Shuttle era in all its glory.

A China Eastern pilot used the A350's thrust reverser to reverse the aircraft on the bay as it hit the jet bridge. Using the thrust reverser of an A350 to reverse the aircraft would be the first time I have seen this. 2 May 2026, Shanghai Airport. Why did he use the thrust reverser twice? Why not just set the brake after the first time?

🚨Air India lost a 737 for 13 years like it’s a TV remote. Paid $120,000 to park it (more than many of us will earn in a lifetime). Now it’s being trucked to Bangalore to become a classroom. Imagine being the engineer who opens the door in 2025 and finds 2012 newspapers inside 💀 Greatest Indian aviation ghost story ever told. You can’t make this up.

Back in 2001, a South Korean military Chinook was lowering a huge Olympic torch sculpture onto Seoul's Olympic Bridge (from the '88 Games). Released the load, settled a bit too much... boom, rotors hit, helicopter snaps in half, crashes into the river. Three crew gone.

Watch this Air Canada captain’s announcement before takeoff: ‘We extend our deepest sympathies to the families of those involved in yesterday’s LaGuardia incident. This is a difficult time for Air Canada. Thank you for your support, and we kindly ask that you do not ask the crew any questions about this event.’ Passengers were completely attentive during the safety demo. Smart balance of empathy, privacy for the crew, and normal operations.

Frontier Airlines......parents are casually letting their kids stand right next to it like it's a petting zoo. Everyone's snapping selfies like it's a normal day at the airport. Bet there's tons more footage from aft of the engine too. Common sense left the chat ✈️😳

Can someone explain to me how the Chinese ‘6th-gen J-50 stealth’ fighter is supposed to be invisible when it leaves a massive white line behind it that you can see from McDonald’s? Am I missing something or did they just spend $2 trillion to lose to a sky marker?

Ever seen a helicopter use the full runway like an airplane?

Tell me this is AI... This can't be real... Do they even know that emergency slides can be detached and deflated...

passenger flying Emirates FRA-DXB today reported their A380 had roughly 50 passengers total.... with the entire Business Class cabin to themselves. They said the airport and plane felt deserted because of the ongoing German pilot strike plus the current Middle East situation

Turns out you can actually ride an open-top double-decker bus at Narita Airport and go straight into the non-public restricted area to watch planes!! You also get off to take photos and climb the Ramp Central Tower for a full 360° view of the airport. 2 hours for ¥13,000, only on a few specific days . This is absolute heaven for plane nerds~
