These continuous tire marks on the Munich runway after VN-A867’s takeoff are hard to ignore.. That strongly suggests the brakes were clamping or not fully released during the takeoff roll... possible Electric Brake Actuator issue, partial seize, or unintended input. Every main brake also hit the max temperature (9.9) just 15 minutes after becoming airborne. That only happens when a lot of energy goes into the brakes during the roll. Investigation will confirm the exact cause, but the marks and the temperatures point clearly toward a brake issue during takeoff.

Did you know the Boeing 787 has a smart little protection feature called Runway Hold on its electric brakes? It only works when the plane is almost stopped on the taxiway. If the pilot is pressing the brake pedal more than 20% and the wheels are turning slower than 2 knots, the system locks the brakes mechanically. These mechanical locks (called friction brakes) hold everything in place without using any electricity. That way the electric motors don’t have to keep working and won’t get hot. The system only starts using the electric motors again when the pilot moves the brake pedal by more than 10%. It’s the exact same lock that lets the parking brake stay on even after you switch the power off.

Watch the thrust levers on a 787 just… move by themselves. That’s the Thrust Management Function doing an autothrottle servo test on the ground. Two independent servo motors under the quadrant are driving the levers so we can confirm the loop is healthy before the airplane goes anywhere. Boeing still moves the actual levers. When A/T is working in flight you see them creep forward or back as the system holds speed or sets thrust. Airbus does it the other way. Levers sit in a detent and the computers talk straight to the engines. Both philosophies work. One gives you a moving picture of what thrust is doing. The other keeps the hardware still.

Never seen the wing do this in cruise before. 787 wing and the airflow over it looks completely different. Normally you only get that misty, glowing sheet during takeoff or landing when the angle of attack is high and the air is wet. In cruise the pressure drop is smoother and the air up here is usually bone dry, so this shouldn’t really show up. just rare to catch it this clearly once you’re already level. Looks unreal though.

Here's some real footage on the job showing exactly what we're talking about on a 787 nose gear. Watch how the downlock pin goes in the right spot, and check that plugged hole next to it from the AD.. Boeing had already flagged this and issued a Service Bulletin to install a plug/cover in the wrong hole. FAA made it mandatory with AD 2019-23-07. Newer jets like the Lufthansa one should have had that plug from the factory. Not sure exactly how the pin ended up in the wrong place or if it wasn't Installed/seated right during the gear cycle check...
