Kargil Vijay Diwas 2026 #OnThisDay | #22July1999 On 22 Jul 1999, even after Pakistan announced its withdrawal, fierce fighting continued in the Mushkoh Valley. The Battle of Zulu Complex began with 3/3 GORKHA RIFLES capturing the vital features of Tri Junction, Thumb and Zulu Base, forcing the enemy to withdraw to Zulu Top. On the night of 24 Jul 1999, 9 PARA (SF) launched the decisive assault on Zulu Top. Displaying exceptional courage, Naik Kaushal Yadav, VrC (Posthumous) led his squad, neutralised five enemy soldiers and made the supreme sacrifice. By first light on 25 Jul 1999, Zulu Top had been captured, securing the entire Zulu Complex. The victory was made possible through exemplary Infantry–Artillery synergy. Capt S Ghosh, Forward Observation Officer from 158 Medium Regiment, directed accurate artillery fire by 16 Fire Units, whose devastating bombardment neutralised enemy defences and enabled the successful Special Forces assault. Honouring the Gunners Who Turned the Tide 🇮🇳 On 13 Jul 2026, as part of the 27th Kargil Vijay Diwas Commemorations, the Indian Army organised a commemorative trek to Point 5140 (Gun Hill) to honour the unmatched valour of the Regiment of Artillery, whose devastating and precise firepower played a decisive role during Operation VIJAY. A total of 137 soldiers undertook the trek, paying tribute to the courage, sacrifice and indomitable spirit of the Gunners whose relentless firepower enabled the capture of key objectives and paved the way for victory in the Kargil War. Kargil Vijay Diwas 2026 #OnThisDay #02June1999 At Point 5299, courage echoed louder than enemy shelling. Under the leadership of Major Vikram Singh Shekhawat of 4 JAT and Capt P V Vikram of 141 Field Regiment, operations were launched to secure the strategic height despite intense enemy fire. In the line of duty, Capt P V Vikram made the supreme sacrifice, while Major Vikram Singh Shekhawat was critically injured. Their courage, sacrifice and devotion to duty remain a timeless testament to the spirit of the Indian Army. Kargil Vijay Diwas 2026 #OnThisDay #12July1999 On 12 Jul 1999, Maj Rajesh Sethi and the gallant soldiers of 4 JAT were tasked to contain the enemy in the Kaksar Sub Sector and prevent further intrusions during the Kargil War. In a fierce engagement, the battalion neutralised 16 enemy soldiers, including Pakistan Army Capt Zafar Ali Changezi, delivering a decisive blow to the intruders. The brave JATs subsequently secured the adjoining tactical heights, effectively encircling the enemy, restricting its movement and paving the way for subsequent successes in the Kaksar Sub Sector. Maj Rajesh Sethi's resolute leadership and exceptional courage made a significant contribution to securing the sub-sector during Operation VIJAY. #OnThisDay | 10 Jul 1999 Muntho Dhalo : Breaking the Enemy's Stronghold 🇮🇳 On 10 Jul 1999, the gallant soldiers of 5 PARA launched a daring assault to capture Muntho Dhalo, the enemy's principal Headquarters and Administrative Base in the Batalik Sector during the Kargil War. 'B' Company, under Maj Vineeth Seth, and 'D' Company, under Maj HS Jaggi, secured the objective by mid-day with exceptional courage and determination. Under the coordination of Maj Gurpreet Singh, Battery Commander, 15 Field Regiment, the Gunners of 15 Field Regiment, 255 Field Regiment and 307 Medium Regiment delivered relentless and devastating artillery fire, enabling the assault and forcing the enemy to abandon Muntho Dhalo, leaving behind large quantities of arms and ammunition. The capture of Muntho Dhalo opened the vital Yaldor–Spring–Point 4100–Muntho Dhalo Axis and marked another decisive victory during Operation VIJAY. Kargil Vijay Diwas 2026 #OnThisDay #11July1999 Capture of Khalubar Ridge : Breaking the Enemy's Backbone 🇮🇳 During Operation VIJAY, Khalubar Ridge formed the enemy's strongest defensive complex in the Batalik Sector, comprising Point 4812, Khalubar, Point 5287, Padma Go and Point 5229. Between 30 Jun and 12 Jul 1999, the gallant soldiers of 22 GRENADIERS, 12 JAMMU AND KASHMIR LIGHT INFANTRY, 1/11 GORKHA RIFLES and LADAKH SCOUTS (Karakoram Wing) launched relentless assaults to systematically capture these dominating features. The devastating and accurate fire delivered by the Gunners of 4 Field Regiment, 15 Field Regiment, 141 Field Regiment, 255 Field Regiment and 307 Medium Regiment shattered enemy defences, enabling the Infantry to maintain the momentum of the assault. The capture of Khalubar Ridge broke the enemy's defensive network, severed its maintenance axis and forced a complete withdrawal. The Tricolour was finally raised over the ridgeline, marking a decisive victory during Operation VIJAY. #OnThisDay | 06 Jul 1999 On 06 Jul 1999, the brave soldiers of 17 GARHWAL RIFLES launched a daring assault on the heavily defended Jubar Complex during the Kargil War. Advancing through the China Nala Axis, they overcame fierce enemy resistance in a meticulously coordinated operation, capturing Bump-II, Bump-III and Kalapathar by 07 Jul 1999. During the battle, the Gunners of 4 Field Regiment, 15 Field Regiment, 141 Field Regiment, 255 Field Regiment and 212 Rocket Regiment delivered relentless and accurate fire, devastating enemy defences across the Jubar heights and paving the way for the Infantry assault. The capture of these dominating features shattered the enemy's defensive posture, with Bump-III serving as the Firm Base for the subsequent assaults on Tharu, Kukarthang and Bump-I. The operation remains a shining example of exceptional courage, meticulous planning and seamless Infantry-Artillery coordination during Operation VIJAY. 🇮🇳 #OnThisDay | 28 June 1999 "Even if I am born again, I will join the Army and fight for my Nation." — Capt Vijayant Thapar, VrC (Posthumous) During the Kargil War, the Battle of Three Pimples witnessed one of the fiercest engagements fought by 2 RAJPUTANA RIFLES, with the highest officer casualties in a single battle of the conflict. Leading from the front, Maj Padmapani Acharya, MVC (Posthumous), Capt Neikezhakuo Kenguruse, MVC (Posthumous) and Capt Vijayant Thapar, VrC (Posthumous) made the supreme sacrifice in the highest traditions of the Indian Army. Accurate artillery fire directed by Capt Akhilesh Saxena of 1889 Light Regiment proved decisive in the success of the operation. Point 4875 : A Battle of Firepower, Fortitude and Fearless Resolve 🇮🇳 #OnThisDay | 04 Jul 1999 The Battle of Point 4875 (Mushkoh Valley) stands among the fiercest battles of the Kargil War. On 04 Jul 1999, the brave soldiers of 17 JAT and 13 JAMMU & KASHMIR RIFLES launched a determined assault against well-entrenched enemy positions in treacherous terrain. By 05 Jul 1999, Point 4875 Top had been secured. Supported by 2 NAGA, 12 MAHAR and 21 PARA (SF), the troops continued relentless operations, culminating in the capture of the entire Point 4875 Complex on 08 Jul 1999. During the night of 04/05 Jul 1999, Rfn Sanjay Kumar, PVC, displayed extraordinary gallantry and was awarded the Param Vir Chakra. Fighting alongside him, Rfn Shyam Singh, VrC (Posthumous) of 13 JAMMU & KASHMIR RIFLES displayed exceptional courage under intense enemy fire. The relentless and precise fire delivered by the Gunners of 41 Field Regiment, 197 Field Regiment, 315 Field Regiment, 108 Medium Regiment, 139 Medium Regiment, 158 Medium Regiment, 253 Medium Regiment, 1889 Light Regiment, 244 Heavy Mortar Regiment and 212 Rocket Regiment, under the coordinated fire plan "Fight Clever", prepared by Col NA Subramanian, YSM, Commanding Officer, 315 Field Regiment, played a decisive role in enabling the Infantry to achieve victory. *Pangong Frozen Lake Marathon 2026* Fire and Fury Corps proudly supported the 4th Pangong Frozen Lake Marathon 2026 at the world’s highest frozen lake, Pangong Tso (14,000 ft). Braving sub-zero temperatures and thin air, over 450 runners conquered the icy terrain across categories ranging from 5 km to the full marathon. GOC Fire and Fury Corps and all ranks congratulate the personnel of Ladakh Scouts for their outstanding performance:- *10 km* 1st: Agniveer Mehboob Ali 2nd: Naik Rinchen Gurmet 3rd: Lance Naik Jigmat Stobdan *21 km (Half Marathon)* 1st: Rifleman Tsetan Namgial 2nd: Agniveer Tashi Namgyal 3rd: Agniveer Sarfaraz Hussain *42 km (Full Marathon)* 1st: Naik Tsering Nurboo 2nd: Agniveer Tsering Stobgais 3rd: Rifleman Kadim Hussain Top Gun runners of Forever in Operations Division were also appreciated for their impressive collective performance in the 5 km and 10 km events. Kargil Vijay Diwas 2025 YUDH SANSMARAN : LAMOCHEN VIEW PT In a heartfelt tribute to the valiant soldiers of Kargil War, Indian Army commenced 26th Kargil Vijay Diwas - Commemoration at the picturesque Lamochen View Point, in Dras Sector overlooking the historic Kargil Battlefield. Lt Gen Hitesh Bhalla, GOC, Fire and Fury Corps, Senior Army Officials, War Veterans, Veer Naris and Veer Matas gathered in unity to honour the bravehearts who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the Nation. The Ceremony began with the hoisting of the National Flag installed jointly by the Flag Foundation of India and Indian Army. War Documentary, paying tribute to the courage, determination and sacrifice of our soldiers was screened. The event evoked emotions and enhanced the respect for our War Heroes.
