Since Fernando Mendoza refused to run a pre-draft 40, as a former NFL Scout, I had to put a stopwatch to his only 40+ yard run of his college career (11/23/24). Starting point: CAL 13 Ending point: Stanford 47 Distance: 40 yards Mendoza’s 40 time: 4.92 seconds

As a former NFL Scout, I’ve watched Shedeur Sanders in these three games against the Ravens, Raiders, and 49ers, and it doesn’t look like he belongs in the NFL. It became obvious in the 4th quarter against the 49ers, when he was put in a situation of needing to make plays (down 23-8 with 11:00 minutes to go) and the game looked too big for him. What do I mean by that? • He tended to hold the ball too long • He tended to choose to throw to the most conservative (short) option —tended to make the most conservative throwing decisions (his throwing decisions did not match the game situation). He seemed more concerned about creating and protecting his stats rather than trying to aggressively attack downfield and put his team in a position to win. He had one intermediate passing attempt (11-yard gain to Jerry Jeudy) and one deep passing attempt (Isaiah Bond incomplete) in the field of play during the 4th quarter. • It did not look like he was seeing the field well. Then on that last drive —Sanders put himself in that 4th and 26. He created that situation by taking an 11-yard sack on 2nd and 10 instead of throwing to an open underneath receiver in his line of vision on the play. Then to make things worse a couple plays later on that 4th and 26—he quit. FILM CREDIT

Starting Shedeur Sanders against the Raiders is going to be a disaster. He completed 25% of his passes against the Ravens and they have the No. 26 ranked defense (Fox Sports). The Raiders have the No. 17 ranked defense (Fox Sports) and they have…Maxx Crosby. Sanders has one of the slowest times to throw in the NFL -AND-he’s the most hesitant quarterback I’ve ever evaluated on college game film. Sanders picked right up where he left off against the Ravens last week with a regular season time to throw of 3.31 seconds (PFF). * That ranks No. 61 out of 64 NFL quarterbacks. Anyone in the NFL have a slower time to throw than Sanders? Not too many… But Caleb Williams does. Williams time to throw is 3.36 seconds (PFF). Williams ranks No. 62. Why is that relevant? Williams and the Bears faced the Raiders back on September 28. How did Crosby do in that game? He had his second highest pass rush grade of the season according to PFF (86.5). How does the Browns offensive line compare to the Bears? The Bears offensive line has the 6th highest pass blocking grade in the NFL 70.0 (PFF). Where does the Browns pass blocking rank? 32nd. Grade: 36.7 (PFF) 😳

“What a beautiful ball by Spencer Rattler.” - CBS Sports I’ve been asked what I think of Rattler’s performance today. He was my QB1 in the 2024 NFL Draft. My response — He was this close to sending the game into overtime against the Cardinals who finished last season with the No. 15 ranked pass defense and an 8-9 talent level in 2024. Arizona was up 20-10 at the start of the 4th quarter. He showed what he’s made of battling back. He responded well to game situation adversity by getting his team in position to go into overtime, and that Cardinals defense knew he had to pass in the 4th quarter (especially at the end). I picked the Saints as my surprise NFC team this season. Two NFC teams made the playoffs in 2024 with 10 wins. Rattler and the #Saints took an 8-9 talent level team to the wire and their defense also is improved. Last season per Fox Sports the #Saints had the No. 30 ranked defense giving up 379.9 yards per game. Against the Cardinals the defense gave up 276 yards (ESPN). Rattler did not turn the ball over and was sacked one time. I’m encouraged. According to Google AI, “The claim that the Arizona Cardinals have one of the hardest defenses to read is well supported.” This was his 7th NFL start. Bottom line — the Saints and Rattler lost to the Cardinals 20-13. He went 27 of 46 (58.7%) for 214 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT.

Caleb Williams is too up and down to lead the Bears. Too emotional. He shows a tendency against the Colts to drop or shake his head or show his frustration when things aren’t going his way. He looks so irritated at times. He carries himself like he’s defeated.

Anyone else notice Caleb Williams looks worse and worse as the game goes on.

As a former NFL Scout— 2026 #NFLDraft Best pick of the draft? Cardinals Quarterback Carson Beck Worst pick of the draft? Raiders Quarterback Fernando Mendoza Most awkward pick of the draft? Rams Quarterback Ty Simpson Coolest thing I’ve seen so far in this draft? The two Make-A-Wish picks in the first round (Easton got to make the pick for the Lions and Dylan got to make the pick for the Seahawks) Biggest surprise? Cornerback Jermod McCoy didn’t go day one or day two Teams that really have helped themselves the most in this draft overall so far based on the pre-draft game film study I did? Cardinals, Falcons, Panthers, Bengals, Browns, Dolphins, Jets, Eagles, Steelers, 49ers, and Titans Video Credit: NFL Network
