It’s been 25 years without Aaliyah but the world hasn’t stopped loving and missing her any less since. She was only 22 and would have gone so much further but gave us 3 classic eras of innovative style and music. RIP and Happy 47th Birthday baby girl 🕊️

Imagine trying to humble a 22 year old Black icon who passed 25 YEARS ago because they’re still culturally significant. Twitter is full of weirdos. Aaliyah was a good person and is loved in real life. Disrespect her but when its Selena or Amy Winehouse, its a problem? Unpack that

Aaliyah’s adlibs and harmonies on this song alone is proof she was a top tier vocalist. She sang soft for her style of music but her voice had depth, was agile and versatile. Her runs and riffs were effortless. Not any singer could sing “Rock The Boat” and make a hit.. at 22 🕊️

30 of Aaliyah’s songs were lost in 1999 before the “Romeo Must Die” era because a drive crashed. We could’ve possibly had another album between “One In A Million” and her self titled album that sounded like a combination of ‘Are You That Somebody’, ‘I Don’t Wanna’, and Try Again.
