On October 30, 2024, AFN Chief, Cindy Woodhouse Nepinak, stated that "in 2021...Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc recovered 215 of their children from the Kamloops Indian Residential School" and that "over 3800 additional unmarked burial sites have been discovered", thus constituting "genocide".
