"Freddie came to me looking a little nervous; 'Mum, I'm not quite sure how to tell you this but I'm not going to be Farrokh Bulsara anymore. From this day on, I'm going to be known as Freddie Mercury, but I want you to know that this is the name I'll have on stage, and back home, I will be the boy you always knew. Are you okay with this?' And I said to him, 'as long as you love me and respect me, everything will be alright.' He said, 'That will always be mum!'" - Jer Bulsara ❤️ #FreddieMercury ❤️

At Freddie’s birthday party 🤗 "My heart sank when I got to the flat and saw all the expensive birthday presents that Freddie’s friends had provided. I hadn’t been sure what to give him. I didn’t have much money to buy him anything, so I decided I’d give him a pressed four-leaf clover. It wasn’t a real one, of course, but it had been given to me many years ago by a friend’s father who had made it himself. I was too embarrassed to give Freddie his lucky clover in front of everyone, so I called him into the bedroom. 'I’m sorry, this is all I can afford to give you,' I said, passing him a small folded piece of tissue paper. When he opened it up he was thrilled. He kissed me then ran into the sitting room with it. 'Look at the gorgeous present Jim’s giving me,' he told everyone, and I blushed. Freddie seemed delighted with it because he knew I had given him something from the heart." - Jim Hutton ❤️ #FreddieMercury 🍀🎁

Ohh Freddie… 🥹 I love U 🥲 "Freddie was very weak for the filming of the video for 'I’m Going Slightly Mad.' He had to be caked in make-up and wore a thick black wig. There were also some penguins there for the shoot and in quiet moments Freddie took himself off to be with them and give them water. Under studio lights they were baking and, ill as he was, he was only concerned for their welfare. 'It’s far too hot for them,' he complained. It was really a distraction to keep his mind off his own problems." - Jim Hutton #FreddieMercury 🐧🐧🐧

The legendary artist Sting was asked about what his main memory was from Live Aid, he said: "I enjoyed it. After I’d sung, I had a ball watching everyone do their thing." "If there was a winner that day it was Queen. Such a slick show. That performance was so fantastic. Freddie was an amazing performer, who not only performed to the top of his abilities, he also orchestrated the entire stadium crowd so they became part of the performance. He was an incredible musician and great singer. A complete one-off. He was Amazing." #LiveAid #Queen #Sting #FreddieMercury #Legend

Freddie Mercury at Live Aid wasn’t just a performance — it was a miracle. In just 21 minutes, with no autotune, no backing tracks, and a voice that could shake the heavens, he turned 72,000 people into one single beating heart… it still gives me chills decades later. No one has ever commanded a stage like that before or since. Freddie didn’t just sing — he possessed the crowd, lifted them, and left an immortal mark on music history. Queen didn’t just steal the show that day. Freddie Mercury BECAME the show. The greatest frontman who ever lived. The King. The Legend. Forever! #FreddieMercury #Legend

Sobbing… 😭😭😭 "For the first time since he had told me of his condition, Freddie brought up the subject of his death. He asked me an odd question, 'What are you going to do when I die?' 'I don't know,' I said, crying, 'I can't handle it all.' 'Well, how do you think I feel?' he replied. I looked over and Freddie was crying too. He cuddled up to me and we cried quietly together, hugging each other tighter for some kind of reassurance. I lay awake crying most of the night, with the thought of Freddie's illness and his inevitable death racing through my mind. What was I going to do when he died? I had no idea. I often used to cry on my own, thinking about Freddie's illness during quiet moments at Garden Lodge, but I made sure he never saw me doing it. However, in the still of the night, it would haunt me. I'd go to bed and cry myself to sleep." - Jim Hutton #FreddieMercury

Sobbing… 😭 "Did we know it would be the last time? No. Freddie said something like, 'Oh. I can't fucking do this anymore, my whole body's wracked with pain!' But he normally said things like that at the end of a tour, so l don't think we took it seriously, really." - Dr. Brian May #FreddieMercury ✨✨✨

"I often saw Freddie preparing to go on stage. Swigging down a few vodkas, he'd warm up his voice with a run of vocal exercises. His valet would have his stage clothes laid out for him. After one last puff on a cigarette, he would rush through his door to the stage to the cheers of Queen's adoring fans. He was like a hurricane. 'When I'm on stage, I become very different,' he said. 'There are no half measures. You have to be resilient to be a rock star, you can't falter once.'" - David Wigg #FreddieMercury 💛

"I think that video for 'I Want To Break Free' shocked quite a lot of people, because they thought we didn’t have that fun element. Even being called Queen… for a heavy metal rock'n'roll band to do that was quite exciting. We got into our roles so easily. My God! I think that’s one of our best videos to date. In fact, it still makes me chuckle every time I see it, and I’ve seen it a lot of times. I’m glad we did it. People were quite amazed by the fact we could fool around and drag up and still be good musicians." - Freddie Mercury 😉

Queen’s performance is literally the Greatest of All Time - they stole the show! 🔝 "Queen were absolutely the best band of the day. They played the best, had the best sound, used their time to the full. They understood the idea exactly, that it was a global jukebox. They just went and smashed one hit after another. It was the perfect stage for Freddie: the whole world." - Bob Geldof #FreddieMercury #LiveAid

"Michael used to come see us a lot. He was a big big fan, especially of Freddie, and Freddie and Michael got on real real well. Michael was very impressed with our lighting rig, I remember. I can’t remember which tour it was. We had pods of lights that moved above the stage that had pilots in them. He said, 'I’m stealing that,' and sure enough on the 'Victory' tour they had something very similar. But Michael really was very fond of Freddie and sort’ve idolized him. Michael really felt he wanted to be a rock star." - Dr. Brian May #MichaelJackson #FreddieMercury

"'We Are The Champions' isthe most egotistical and arrogant song I've ever written. I was thinking about football when I wrote it. I wanted a participation song, something the fans could latch on to. It was aimed at the masses. I wanted to write something that everyone could sing along to, like a football chant. And at the same time, I thought it would be nice to have a winning song that's meant for everybody. We said We are the champions, but that doesn't mean it's Us: it's for everyone. I can imagine people going to a game and, if their team wins, they can sing it - a winning song for everyone. I thought we'd see how they took it. It worked a treat." - Freddie Mercury 😊🏆

On the song 'Somebody To Love' 🤗 "Freddie came in very well prepared with a lot of vocal parts and we just worked our way through 'em and became something we called the 'sausage machine' that we'd sort of follow our instincts and whoever was leading at the time. It's a very good feeling, I always remember thinking 'This is gonna be something great." - Dr. Brian May #FreddieMercury #Queen

"Freddie would certainly fight for things he believed in. Like 'Another One Bites The Dust' which was a bit of a departure for Queen. Roger, at the time, certainly felt that it wasn't rock and roll and was quite angry at the way it was going. Immediately Freddie became violently enthusiastic and said, 'Darling, leave it to me. I believe in this. This is big! This is important! I'm going to spend a lot of time on this.' John had written the song. But it took Freddie's support to make it happen." - Dr. Brian May #FreddieMercury.

Freddie wasn’t just a singer. He was a god on stage. That overwhelming voice, his one of a kind presence, and the charisma that captivated audiences in an instant... Even now, I get goosebumps every time I listen to him. Forever Freddie Mercury! #FreddieMercury #Legend

"'Killer Queen' has always been a favourite of mine. It was something a bit more complex, an adventure in putting guitar harmonies into the solo. It was quite a step into the unknown, that solo, and it has a melody that I put in there which doesn’t appear anywhere else in the song. My dream was to use the guitar as an orchestra instrument, and I was lucky enough to make the dream come true. The 'Killer Queen' solo was the first time I really managed to get the harmony thing across, and all those harmonies move about, they’re not just following each other parallel - they all interact like a small jazz band would do. With 'Killer Queen,' it worked out so nice. I would probably put that forward as the one that perhaps I would want people to remember me by." - Dr. Brian May
