📈 The Lasting Legacy of Hyperinflation: Savings built over decades vanish overnight. 🎙️Rufaro: "The central bank is behind the curve in understanding the extent of distrust." "Hyperinflation was traumatic for people. People lost their savings that they had built over decades... Someone had US$200,000 in a bank account, and they woke up a few weeks later, it was worth less than 100 bucks. People don't get over such dramatic losses overnight; it takes decades." Rufaro: "Our last traumatic event, we can date it to September 2024 when the ZiG lost 43% of its value overnight... This is a very fresh wound, it's very much alive in the public's imagination." 📽️ IPAZ (INVESTMENT PROFESSIONAL) 2026 Summer School Conference, Livingstone, Zambia | Tinashe, Rufaro, and Bevin Ngara analyzing Zimbabwe's roadmap to a mono-currency. Building a currency requires rebuilding trust first.

Why are mining giants like Zimplats spending $200 million building their own solar plants? "You really do not want Zimplats spending $200 million, which they are doing building solar power plants when they should be expanding their core business and scaling for beneficiation." - Victor Utedzi "That's our job somebody else should do the power. But because we're not attracting long-term international capital fast enough due to currency convertibility issues, it becomes a domestic play." - Victor Utedzi 📈Root Cause (The Macro Bottleneck): Mining giants are forced into self-funding power off their balance sheets because domestic energy developers face barriers in attracting long-term international capital due to currency convertibility and macro risks. 📽️ Watch Victor Utedzi in conversation with Tinashe, Rufaro and guest panelists at the IPAZ (INVESTMENT PROFESSIONAL) 2026 Summer School in Livingstone, Zambia. Highlighting a structural inefficiency in how energy infrastructure is currently financed across Zimbabwe's industrial sector.
