The mission of Jesus Christ is to give glory to His Father through the salvation of souls. Furthermore, Jesus Christ was born King, but for there to be a King, there must be a kingdom, for there to be a Leader there must be the led. Therefore, our Lord established a religious society. As long as there are men upon earth, the mission of our Lord must continue. For this purpose, therefore, He conferred His own power of Teaching,Ruling and Sanctifying on His Apostles and commanded that all men listen to them and their successors if they must be saved. To ensure the stability, union and unity of this religious society, He founded it on St Peter, whom he called the Rock.
