Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson bombed her interview with Fox 13's Hana Kim, at a recent civic event: ❌She refused to answer if she regrets calling for a boycott of Starbucks. ❌She refused to answer if she supports dissolving KCRHA after multiple follow up questions. ❌She refused to answer what her plan is for 12th and Jackson. ❌She blamed the drug and mental heath crisis on 'housing costs'. ❌She refused to respond to L.A. mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt's assertion that she would welcome drug addicts from California. ❌She refused to answer multiple questions on what it would take for her to put drug treatment first ❌She blamed the President of the United States for missing her promised goal of 500 tiny homes before the World Cup. ❌She refused to take responsibility for anything... Two good things to come out of this were; ✅The Seattle heavy audience letting her know exactly how they feel about her incompetence ✅The (correct) level to which the local media is going to hold Katie Wilson accountable while she remains mayor. Latest Seattle restaurant to close: Sam's Tavern in Capitol Hill. The owner cited labor costs as the number factor saying: “I believe that we should pay employees more, but I also think that there should be a tip credit. You're really making it challenging for operators to want to come back in and do anything in Seattle because there's not a lot of upside, and there's a lot more risk now with trying to do something.” Not sure he could not be any clearer than that.. KOMO dives into the question: "Do millionaires leave states with targeted high earners' taxes?" The IRS data for Massachusetts, which enacted a similar higher income bracket tax of 4% suggest the answer is... Yes. Thousands of them did, in fact. And while MA's income tax brought in more money than was originally expected; their Tax Competitiveness score went from 36th in 2020, to a dismal 43rd. (Come for the answer, stay for the MA version of Jamie Pedersen) Natalie Fahmy | KOMO News 'Deep dive: Do millionaires leave states with targeted high earners' taxes?' Article:

Washington's new income tax is the final straw for Jon Bodwell, owner of Delta Camshaft. Jon is the 2nd generation owner of this camshaft modification shop that has been in Tacoma for 48 years, but is selling the (graffiti covered) building and moving everything to Arizona. He cites "crime, taxes, and business climate" as reasons he is leaving, and frankly who can blame him? If a business cannot make a profit in Washington state or has to deal with a hostile government, they are going to go where the grass is greener. Basic economics, which Progressive Democrats are trying to ignore. FOX Business 'Business owner makes tough decision to leave Washington after 48 years'

'State weighs proposed toll increases on I-405 and SR-167' But its more than just toll increases (to $18). On the table is also tolling 405 during weekends, and requiring 3 people most times for the use of the HOV Flex Pass. Lets take a walk back in time to see how we got here, shall we? * In 2015, the first HOT lane opened on 405 with a $10 Max Toll. The law was written that HOT lane traffic had to be moving at a minimum 45mph for 90% of the time AND revenue goals met. This had to be accomplished by the end of a 2yr trial. * In 2017 when the trial was up, the HOT lanes did NOT achieve the minimum 45mph required to keep operating. That is where then Attorney General Bob Ferguson stepped in. * AG Bob Ferguson told the state the AND was actually an OR, and the state could continue operating the 405 HOT lanes, even though it failed to achieve its goals set in the RCW * In 2024, the Max Toll on 405 was increased by 50% to $15. The state said 'that toll rate would rarely happen'. Data shows it happens on about 80% of the time on morning commutes. Back to 2026. Governor Ferguson appointed the members of the Washington State Transportation Commission. They are not elected. The WSTC is now looking at two options: A) Toll 405 during the weekends (currently free). Extend peak hours for toll requirement. Require 3+ HOV during peak hours B) Max Toll to $18 Extend peak hours for toll requirement Toll 405 during the weekends Require 3+ HOV during peak hours. (It's going to be option B guys, because why wouldn't they?) So to recap; an unelected board is seriously talking about raising the toll rate to 80% over what it was 11 years ago, on lanes that (still) fail to achieve rules set out by the legislature, that require a $15 flex pass to use HOV, which is also about to be raised to 3 people. But they pinkie promise tolls will rarely hit that $18 max toll... Paola Tristan Arruda | KIRO 7 Special thanks to Chris Sullivan at KIRONewsradio Article:

In January 2025, the median price for a condo in Seattle was about $690k. One year later, that number has plummeted over 19% to $577k. The data doesn't lie; Seattle and Puget Sound's housing market is in serious trouble... And it is only going to get worse as companies run away from our bad policies, taking their workers with them. 'Aurora Neighbors Confront the Mayor's Public Safety Advisor' Mayor Katie Wilson sent her Public Safety Advisor to talk to North Seattle residents, still weary from the 95th shooting in their neighborhood in 2 years. When asked why the mayor won't surge Seattle PD, the response was they can't because officer deployments are; "A little to a large degree, dictated by collective bargaining agreements." Not "we chased away all the cops." Not "we stopped enforcing laws." Not "the new city attorney won't enforce the new SOAP zone" And certainly not "we will talk to SPOG and deploy every available SPD resource here to arrest the pimps and drug dealers causing the violence." Nope, she simply passed the buck. Good luck, North Seattle. Might we advise you switch to Eco Blocks? Charlie Harger, KIRO Newsradio | KIRO Newsradio 97.3 FM🎙

Washington state's new Income Tax is about to have yet another casualty. Venice A.I. founder Jesse Proudman tells KOMO's Joel Moreno: "I have been out of state looking at other houses as well. It's just not a friendly jurisdiction to be in, when you are villainized for being an entrepreneur here." No argument there. Joel Moreno spells it out even more plainly: "If wealthy job creators do leave, so too will the revenue the [income] tax is supposed to collect." Olympia Democrats cut $580,000 from the WA DNR Park's Maintenance budget this session and the results are multiple campground closures, washed out trails, broken toilets, and no trash pickup. In case you are wondering why they cut this small amount from an $80 Billion budget for such a popular thing that tens of millions of people use; its because they want the public to feel pain up to next session. That way, they can ram through more tax increases without too much complaint. Jackie Kent | KOMO News 'Campgrounds shutter: DNR slashes recreation services, cutting access to state parks' Article:
