💔 Somewhere in the world, a 6-year-old girl named Mariam is going to sleep after another hard day of fighting a serious illness she never chose. Her life is spent between hospitals and treatments while other children enjoy toys and school. She is battling Autoimmune Encephalitis and needs ongoing care to stay stable. Behind her smiles is a family living in fear of not being able to afford her next treatment. No child should have to go through this. 🙏 Please keep Mariam in your prayers and help if you can. We have made the difficult decision that it is no longer safe or possible to provide proper and comfortable care for our precious girl at home, so we are now taking her to the Emergency Room (ER). 🥺💔 Our hearts are heavy, but hope is still alive… 🤍 Please keep her in your thoughts, send your love, prayers, and positive wishes her way. 🙏✨

Quando abbiamo perso la nostra Luna pensavamo che nulla sarebbe mai stato uguale. Come se qualcosa si fosse rotto per sempre. Per giorni ho pensato se fosse giusto prendere un altro cane. La vivevo come una mancanza di rispetto. Poi una sera mi chiama mio fratello, noto taciturno, e mi dice: le scelte di pancia sono le migliori, falla subito o non lo fai più. Ok ci provo, chiamo. Tanto chissà quando lo trovo un Bovaro. E invece no. Destino toglie, Destino regala. Conosco Giulia, ha ancora 3 cuccioli e li terrebbe tutti. Mi ascolta, non c’è bisogno di parole. È la mia voce che si strozza in gola a parlare per me. E cosi eccoti qua piccola Nana. Oggi compi un anno. Inutile dire che ci hai conquistato tutti. I was about to head home after my shift when I passed a kennel and noticed a large German Shepherd lying quietly on his bed 🥺 In a shelter full of noise and barking, it’s rare to see a dog so still… and that alone made me stop. His name is King. I went into his kennel to check on him. He looked at me for just a moment… then slowly put his head back down 💔 I couldn’t just walk away, so I took him outside to spend some time with him. When I checked his kennel card, I saw he had been surrendered just yesterday. King is an 8-year-old German Shepherd, weighing over 100 lbs. He’s house-trained, and good with kids, cats, and other dogs — everything you’d want in a loyal companion. Once we got outside, little by little, I watched him start to come back to life 🥹

In this video, Maria had just woken up. What you see here — these small startles— are epileptic myoclonias. They are sudden, involuntary muscle jerks caused by abnormal electrical activity in the brain. 🧠 Maria has already been diagnosed via EEG with Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome. These episodes usually happen during sleep–wake transitions or when she is very tired. 😴 It’s hard to watch… but it keeps us going: 🩷 to seek better treatment 💚 to get the right support 🩵 and to give Maria a calmer, better life Lennox-Gastaut is complex… but our love is stronger ❤️
