His name is King. I went into his kennel to check on him. He looked at me for just a moment… then slowly put his head back down 💔 I couldn’t just walk away, so I took him outside to spend some time with him. When I checked his kennel card, I saw he had been surrendered just yesterday. King is an 8-year-old German Shepherd, weighing over 100 lbs. He’s house-trained, and good with kids, cats, and other dogs — everything you’d want in a loyal companion. Once we got outside, little by little, I watched him start to come back to life 🥹

Watching some of the newly freed medical research beagles struggle to understand that they’re safe now is heartbreaking 💔 Even with all they’ve been through, each one is incredibly gentle and so badly wants to trust.
