This is one of our local farms. When farmers are gone, who helps ? When a field catches fire, something remarkable happens in the countryside. Before the last fire engine has even arrived, neighbouring farmers are already on their way. Tractors leave fields half-finished. Cultivators and ploughs are used to cut firebreaks. Water bowsers appear from nowhere. Everyone has one aim: stop the fire, protect wildlife, save crops and, above all, keep people’s homes safe. Look at these photographs. See just how close the flames came to those houses. I’ve often said that farmers are Britain’s fourth emergency service, and days like this prove it. They don’t ask who owns the field or whose problem it is. They simply turn up. It’s time this Government The Labour Party started recognising farmers for what they really are: not just food producers, but environmental custodians, protectors of our countryside and champions of our rural communities. The next time you see a farmer driving towards a fire instead of away from it, remember that’s what real public service looks like. Just add water. 3 old black plastic planters. The best thing to do with plastic is use it forever, I made this today, some copper patina painted on, aquatic plants added and voila, a mini habitat all from something that was scrap. Repurposing is the most rewarding thing.

When I pop out into the garden for 5 minutes, it’s always the best 3 hours of the day 😂 I go out to pick a cucumber. Then I notice a rose that needs deadheading. That reminds me to tie in a sweet pea. Then there’s a bee on a dahlia that deserves a minute of admiration. Then I spot a handful of seeds ready to collect… An hour later, I’m carrying flowers, tomatoes, a rusty trowel I lost last week, and still haven’t picked the cucumber. The garden has a wonderfully polite way of stealing your day, and I never seem to mind. Happy Thursday you lovely Gardeners ❤️

This is my husband, Clive. Clive Bailye He’s a farmer, a devoted dad, and one of the strongest champions of British farming I know. He works incredibly hard, often behind the scenes, doing everything he can to protect not just our family farm, but the future of farming itself. He cares deeply about the land, the food we produce, and the people who work so tirelessly to put it on our tables. Farming isn’t just his job. It’s who he is. It asks a lot of him, but I’ve never known anyone with more determination or a stronger sense of responsibility. I’m incredibly proud to stand beside him.

It seemed very daunting at the beginning, this lovely old house and garden have been my love affair for 7 years, it has such history and I wanted to bring the smile back to her slightly disheveled face. I have loved her with all my heart. You are looking beautiful my old girl.
