modern pop stars try to incorporate signifiers of the dance floor / disco / electro in their music - your Dua Lipas, your Jessie Wares - but it’s couched in the production aesthetic of like “would sound ok on iPhone speaker.” love to hear pop mixed like this. sounds like New Beat

what does it say about me that this IG reel of a guy replicating the Michael McDonald vocal harmony stack on “Peg” literally brought tears to my eyes

apparently Liz Fraser performed live with Massive Attack a few days ago. seeing any footage at all of her singing in 2025 is so heartening & magical. i would say “can we get a Cocteau Twins tour please the world is begging you” but we know it’s almost certainly not in the cards

i wasn’t participating in Rick Rubin Discourse the last time everyone was debating the merits of his “wise mystical guy in the corner giving cryptic advice” production style but a clip of him talking was just fed to me on IG & now i understand: this man is so fucking annoying omg
