![Metro Boomin says that sampling has gotten lazier in today’s day and age: “I don’t think they’re doing it right…The core of hip hop music has always been sample-based… [Today], it just be lazy...Now, something come on and you be like, ‘oh yeah, that’s In Da Club.’ You just know off top. It’s not no ‘oh, I took this and flipped it, reversed it, chopped it’…There’s not that much creativity in it.” Via Chelsea Cotton & ECB Studio](https://image.24vids.com/tw-2092641436797735109/amplify_video_thumb/2092641270380335104/img/VPSpk-WUMKqcqNHP.jpg)

Shawn Cee says that the “death” of mainstream hip hop is good for the genre: “I think it’s awesome that the best music you can listen to…isn’t readily accessible…Yes, you should have to look for it…If you really wanna be about this sht, you gonna invest some time into it… People as consumers, have become extremely lazy.”

Ovrkast is getting a little too much disrespect for my liking right now ▫️He produced some of Drake’s best records this decade including Red Button, The Shoe Fits & Make Them Pay ▫️He’s shaping into an excellent rapper and curator beyond already being a great producer with songs like TBH!, CUT UP w/Cardo, & SPIKE LEE ▫️His collabs with Samara Cyn are some of my favorite recent releases across any genre: KNOCK, Small Talk, BUSHWICK ▫️He truly cares about the craft and is blending new school bounce with old school lyricism & sampling for a truly unique sound

![J. Cole says that there are lines from ‘The Fall-Off’ that people still haven’t caught yet For example: “I'm the Carolina 910 Shakespeare / All that cap you let them ****** rap is over with” Cap-u-let is Juliet’s last name in Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet 🤯 “There’s a line on ‘Run A Train’ where nobody…making a connection. And that’s the only one that actually bothers me. There’s [other] lines like the ‘cap you let,’ I’m already knowing when I’m writing it, nobody’s gonna give a fck outside of me and get it, and I’m at peace with that.” Salute NoBarsOffShow 🫡](https://image.24vids.com/tw-2097002340192579736/amplify_video_thumb/2097001993998831617/img/FecrGHTsWPgbGye0.jpg)

Vince Staples talks about music criticism online 😭 “Albums aren’t supposed to be perfect you a**hole, you’re not perfect…We know you don’t have the bidet…You get on the internet with your shtty butt and you talk poorly about people’s creative choices. It’s not nice of you to do so…Wipe your a** before you talk about people’s albums” 😂 Via Apple Music

Today I learned that the reason J. Cole got emotional the other night performing ‘Love Yourz’ in the now viral clip was because of a kid named Collin Griffin, who he met in 2017 when Collin was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. Collin’s Make-A-Wish was to meet Cole, and when he passed away the next year, Cole was even mentioned in his obituary. Collin met Cole backstage at a show in DC, and Dreamville took care of him with merch and the like. Cole even took the shoes off his feet and signed them for Collin, asking him to work hard to beat cancer. Collin told Cole that his music has been inspirational for him and helped him get through this difficult time, to which Cole responded "No, you inspire me." Collin broke down in tears. Fast forward to Cole’s Cleveland show over the weekend, Collin’s family attended and held up pictures of him, which Cole called out right before performing ‘Love Yourz.’ Collin loved to draw, had a great passion for music, and he lived each day to the fullest. RIP 💙🕊️ “We love Collin, man” -Cole

BNYX talks about Drake putting him on to Dipset: “First time I heard Dipset, I was on an airplane with Drake…It was some of the craziest music that I’ve ever heard.” Say what you want about Drake, but he is a hip hop nerd through and through 🤷🏼♂️ Via Elsie not Elise 💿
