I have resigned my membership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) along with the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere, other members of the State Assembly, elected Local Government officials, my commissioners and other appointees. I made the announcement today, October 15, 2025, during the expanded State Executive Council meeting, which was attended by the leadership of the House of Assembly. While this decision has become imperative for obvious reasons, I would like to appreciate our supporters and the good people of Bayelsa State for your understanding. We will remain very focused on our developmental agenda and I urge you to continue working for the common good of our state and country. Nua! Umbana!

The Presidential visit to Bayelsa State is now official. The President, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, will be here on Friday, April 10, 2026 to inaugurate three legacy projects delivered by our Government of Assured Prosperity. Bayelsa is rising towards economic prosperity.

Today, I received members of the Deputy Governors Forum of Nigeria led by the Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ossai, who came on a condolence visit over the demise of my Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, Ph.D. I am particularly touched by the great testimonies of the visiting Deputy Governors on their cordial relationship and friendship with the late Ewhrudjakpo. It was also nice to note that our late Deputy Governor was an active member of their forum. Late Lawrence truly served the state meritoriously and this much I had acknowledged at every opportunity. Let me appreciate the forum for the visit and assure them that this government will continue to honour the legacies of Senator Ewhrudjakpo. Also today, I received Nigerian businessman, Chief Cosmas Maduka, President/CEO of Coscharis Group and a delegation of the Ijaw Youth Council, Worldwide under the leadership of Comrade Jonathan Lokpobiri, who came to condole with the government and the Ewhrudjakpo family.

Today, after wide consultations and careful consideration, we have formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) to advance governance in Bayelsa State. This political alignment with the centre is a strategic and collaborative decision taken in the best interests of our people and to accelerate the state's development. I wish to appreciate my dear brother and leader, the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima Senator Kashim Shettima, for leading a powerful delegation of APC leaders including the Senate President, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, GCON Godswill Akpabio, National Chairman of our party, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and my colleague governors to Bayelsa State to formally receive my team and me into the APC fold. I am grateful for the leadership and accommodation of His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and thank you for the award of the second phase of the historic Nembe-Brass road and for other interventions in the state. I am convinced that Mr. President’s economic and fiscal policies will positively re-engineer this country for great. I pledge to continue to work constructively with the federal government for the overall development of Bayelsa State, and support President Tinubu's re-election in 2027. For us in Bayelsa State, we are too small and close‑knit to be divided by partisan bitterness. I wish to express my profound gratitude to the leadership and membership of the APC in the state for warmly welcoming us into the fold. I have pledged to be a unifying factor among key stakeholders.

Yesterday, I led a powerful delegation on an investment drive to the Dangote Refinery, Dangote Petrochemical Plant and the Dangote Port in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State. Yes, we are building critical road infrastructures across the 8 LGAs and going forward, we would be more intentional, deliberate and strategic to attract new investments with businesses in our areas of comparative advantage in resources to boost the economic profile of the state and create job opportunities for our people. Our visit to the facility which was a follow-up to an earlier meeting with Alhaji Aliko Dangote in Nassau, The Bahamas, during the AFREXIM Bank annual meeting last month was rewarding. Thank you Alhaji Dangote for opening your doors to us! Thanks to members of my delegation which included Ambassador (Dr.) Godknows Igali and my brother, Ndutimi Alaibe Chief Ndutimi Alaibe, former Managing Director, NDDC. We take it up from here!

I wish to appreciate our leader and father, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan,GCFR, Goodluck E. Jonathan for joining us on our 5th Anniversary to perform the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a new 25,000 capacity ultra-modern stadium at Igbogene, Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. We are being deliberate in building new facilities to boost sports development in the State.
