This week, I signed a proclamation declaring November as Family Month— and the celebration is in full swing. This month, I challenge you to carve out a little extra time with your family. Throw a dinner party, walk the dog together, go to a movie. Whatever it is, let’s be intentional with our family time.

What happened to this family is heartbreaking. Their lives are forever altered, and the courts have clearly ruled in favor of justice. The Department of Corrections upheld the law in how they handled this inmate, which is why the grand jury report said clearly there was no finding of wrongdoing. The Legislature and I supported this session to make the law stricter moving forward for all DUI cases. It is disappointing that the Attorney General is once again promoting baseless gossip to advance his political career.

I started the conversation with Operation Safe. I made it clear that it wasn't compassionate to let people sleep under a bridge. The Legislature took that seriously and gave this teeth. Now, if cities and counties are going to ignore rampant homelessness, residents have recourse. Thank you Representative Caldwell and Senator Daniels for getting HB 3985 to my desk.

On June 14, 1777, the Second Continental Congress passed the Flag Resolution, officially adopting the Stars and Stripes as the flag of our nation. The American flag is recognized across the world as a symbol of freedom. And we never forget the cost- that flag was built by the blood of those who sacrificed their lives for our liberty. I am proud to be an American. Happy Flag Day! 🇺🇸
