Jason Kidd was asked by Ron Harrod Jr. about the national criticism for playing Cooper Flagg at point guard. Kidd: "Criticism? That’s your opinion. You guys write that bullshit. That’s not — I’ve done this. I’ve played this game. I played it. I know what the fuck I’m doing. "I don’t give a fuck what you guys write because you guys have never played the game. I build players, so I know what the fuck I’m doing. So if I take criticism, it only makes me better, because if I wasn’t doing it right, you guys wouldn’t be poking holes in what I’ve done."

![Summer Mavs coach Jared Dudley shared his thoughts on what Jaden Hardy has to show to earn more playing time next season. "I'm not a head coach, but he averages, what, 15 minutes? For him to get to 25, 27 minutes, his defense has to [be there] — his awareness off-ball, being low-man, [guarding] pin-downs... It took me when I played two, three years of that, and I went to [Boston College] for four years. So by asking the guy in the fire, he's having to guard the likes of Kyrie [Irving] and Luka [Doncic], where these guys are elite. So for him, it's off-ball awareness. "And then offensively, I mean, I think he shot 40 percent on step-back 3s. So it shows you his capability, but can he make the reads? Can he make the lob pass [after reading the] low man? Can he make the corner pass? Will he let the game come to him if he's [shooting] 1-6? Is he going to shoot two more bad shots? And that's why I try to try to ease him, 'Hey, you're getting 20 shots.' All my plays are for Hardy. "And listen, we know that he has to. And so it's geared for him. But at the same time, like you have a lot of responsibility. Cooper Flagg grabbed at his left foot before shooting free throws. By making the first, he recorded his first 40-point NBA game. Missing the second free throw gave Dallas possession, setting up two free throws for Max Christie and tying it 129-129 with 3.9 seconds.
