Allen Park, the “controversial” Durga pujo at Park Street, the first time it is being held on the iconic street, was something else. A full production, with lights and thumping music (Aghori Tandav) and Aghoris, this was light years away from any other pandal I have ever seen (and I have seen a few). I can understand why the Bengalis who speak Bengali with an affected Bengali and miss Mamata Banerjee’s poems and art are outraged. This isn’t the shehnai playing “sad pujo” about the ephemeral nature of happiness and life. This isn’t the “amar poojar phool bhalobasha” Kishore Kumar love song of eyes meeting across pandal. This is about religion. And this is about war. Which is what Durga pujo really is. Gods put aside their differences to together create the ultimate war machine, Ma Durga, to face off against the ultimate evil, a shapeshifting demon. This is a Pujo about identity. Reclaiming it.

Australian crowd shows how racist they are , unless they have a IPL contact. The surprising thing is that there will be Indians who will defend the Australians and you can see why we were colonized.

Started seeing this IISC professors viral video where he starts by saying “did you see MIT study of agents where they started to cheat” and then says that is AGI. I cannot ,for the life of me, believe that a professor in class says this and it is viral and then I understand why Dhruv Rathee is Indias biggest AI expert.

Mahua Moitra once asked “Why would anyone leave Bangladesh to come to India?” Well, indeed why would? Especially when their country can make the “original” of Rangeela so amazingly well choreographed.

That happy expression on Dada’s face is like when the pace bowlers would be taken out of the attack and the left arm spin bowlers would be handing the umpires their caps.

Today’s cricket match showed what happens to Pakistan if they face India without China. BTW, Pakistan tried to bring Chinese cricketers into PSL apparently and it’s then that Rameez Raja learned a shattering truth. The Mandarin for cricket is Pakistan.

As Hindu patriarchal fascism rules India, I remember a different India, one of my youth where mukhras were diverse, secular and loaded with double meaning. The greatest New Year song ever. From Bomb Blast sung by the legendary Bali Brahmabhatt.
