If you ever get tired of managing your Codex threads, just let Codex manage itself! Codex can now create threads, search them, organize them, pin the important ones, and spin up worktrees for parallel tasks.

Codex can now hand off threads between local and remote hosts. Start work on your laptop, send it to a remote box before you close the lid, bring it back later. And yes, Codex can orchestrate the handoff for you.

Speaking is faster than typing. Reading is faster than listening. The highest bandwidth interface between humans and AI is asymmetric. That’s how we designed ChatGPT Voice on desktop: speak your thoughts and let the model choose the best way to show you its answer.

Voice is now available in your existing Codex threads. Talk through a PR with the agent that wrote it, debate the architecture, or work out what comes next. You can jump into voice whenever something needs a back-and-forth, then let the agent keep working once you’ve figured it out together.

ChatGPT Voice on desktop is the greatest plan mode I’ve ever used. I start with a blurry idea. It asks sharp questions that help me discover what I actually want, draws the architecture as we talk, then spins up a Codex task to build it.

Once you get used to saying “look at this” instead of spending a minute badly describing your screen, there is no going back. ChatGPT Voice and Appshots are an absurdly addictive combination.

One of our north stars for Codex: anything you can do by clicking around the app, Codex should be able to do for you. Eventually, you stop managing threads altogether. You tell ChatGPT Voice what should be true, and it coordinates the agents required to make it true.
