So delighted that my dear friend Constable Sukhvinder Singh Sunger of the Vancouver Police Department has made global headlines for a historic appearance at the prestigious Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo in Scotland. Sukhvinder became the first turbaned Sikh Drum Major to lead the Vancouver Police Pipe Band. In 2021, Constable Sukhvinder and I made this video together in Victoria, BC. I am excited to share that joyful moment.

When the mercury plummets to -40° (where Celsius and Fahrenheit finally agree), most sensible creatures burrow inward. But not in the Yukon. Here, in this land where exhaled breath crystallizes mid-air and exposed skin stings within seconds, I found myself moved to dance Bhangra — not despite the cold, but in defiant celebration of it. Watch what happens when traditional Punjabi dance meets Arctic extremes: joy doesn't just survive the freeze, it blazes brighter against the white backdrop, proving that warmth isn't something we wait for the world to provide — it's something we generate from within, movement by movement, beat by beat.

In my own life, I try to treat joy like a lamp I tend, not a spotlight I chase. It snows about 7-8 months a year in the north. I have to do this about 6-7 times in 24 hours when it snows. Now you can calculate how many times I remove snow from my deck every year. Good exercise, eh? Besides the winter workout, I'm sending you warmth, joy, hope and positivity.
