We can send astronauts to the dark side of the moon, but we can’t solve our country’s health care problems. I met a woman in central Kansas whose family is paying over $2,000 a month for health insurance. The bottom line: they couldn’t afford it. Decisions coming out of Washington are making life more difficult for Kansans. We need a government that stands up for what’s right and speaks out against the wrongs.

In Kansas right now, that means fighting for Kansans paying an extra $1.50 a gallon at the pump, for rural hospitals at risk of closing and families facing soaring health insurance premiums, and for farmers losing markets to tariffs. Kansans deserve a senator who's listening.

We’ve learned to love and embrace each other precisely because of our differences. Washington doesn’t need more political fights made for TV. Kansans deserve a government that listens. I’m an independent-minded Democrat. I’ll lead by listening, speaking out against the wrongs, and fighting for our freedoms. For 36 years as a pastor, I've sought to listen to people — to genuinely listen and care, to understand their needs and concerns, to offer compassion, kindness, and love. I'm not naive. Kindness and compassion alone aren't going to solve all of this. We also need the courage to stand up for what's right — to speak up against the wrongs we see in our society, to fight for our freedoms, and to restore a functional government in this American experiment. That's what this campaign is about. I hope you'll join me.
