The Netzah Yehuda battalion, known for its severe human rights violations in the West Bank, was under "investigation" by the U.S. Department of State, led by Secretary Antony Blinken, for confirmed gross human rights abuses. These included the death of 80-year-old Palestinian American Omar Assad and the rape of a child. Despite substantial evidence, Blinken decided not to impose sanctions, citing the Israeli government's claims of remedial actions, including the dismissal of involved soldiers and changes to their training.
