I share my cooking adventures here… I think it’s only fair to self-disclose a cooking fail too. I decided to try cooking pork belly at home and tried a recipe online. My failure, I think, was not draining the rendered fat before the top crisping phase. When I turned up the temperature, the rendered fat went into overdrive and crusted the heck out of the meaty part of the belly, so I had a hard crust of meat with fat on top. Not the desired texture. Anyone have a perfect pork belly recipe they like? Resulting in unctuous, savory and mixed texture goodness for very occasional consumption due to the relatively low protein to fat ratio of this delicacy?

There’s a Schumer shutdown …. So I invited many of my DOJ Civil Rights Division colleagues over for a get together to socialize and feed them since they aren’t getting paid but several are working on critical, exempted matters… Yes I designed and knit that sweater and you can’t have one!

Was tending my garden this evening after visiting my mom for two evenings…. Several neighbors stopped by & expressed their appreciation for my garden and its blooms 🥰. The passion flowers are particularly popular! Politics aside, some people still love nature& beauty!

Out of order but this is how I made my corn soup tonight. Also went to the gym, lifted heavier than last time, walked 22k steps, multiple media hits, work calls, meetings, charging decisions, kicked off some fresh investigations. Ate well.

It’s not all glamour and bring your own coffee. Sometimes one has to go on the road to argue for the United States in an important case. Hampton Inn, powered by dubious take out sushi and Chex Mix. God, I love this country! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Latest addition to pollination nation! A hand-hammered copper birdbath I picked up on a recent trip to the countryside! Incoming — several gladiolus. Also it looks like some bees are having a meeting in my salvia!

How to start knitting a hat on a train where you are stuck for three hours because the flight got cancelled and you have to get to your friend’s wedding — a three act play. Sorry for the bad acoustics but Acela and I’m never able to travel without a knitting/needlepoint project plus a book to listen to or TV/movie to stream. While awake, always be hustling! Step one — cast on tubular knitting brim (stretchy/elegant/polished) Step 2 — double knitting the cast on — for that super stretchy flex Step 3 — knit/purl ribbing.

Hi 👋🏼 everyone! Positive news from the ground in Maricopa County! Things are going well, issues are being handled, and the main issue is those Arizona voters who haven’t gotten in line and voted! 🗳️ Let’s finish strong!

Thank you to all the people who understand the power of faith. It’s important that we continue growing the Republican Party and recognize everyone who shares our values and is proud to be an American has a place in our Party. It was an honor to share the Sikh prayer.

A brief thought about the RNC Chair race. It’s been an honor to hear from all the Americans who reached out to share their views about the party’s leadership. While we are disappointed with the results, we started a movement & I will keep working to elect Republicans nationwide!!
