Nothing any Government gives away is “free”. No “free” breakfast clubs, no “free” healthcare. In Scotland, no “free” tuition fees or “free” prescriptions. It’s all taxpayer funded. Taxpayers pay, whether they like it or not, for all the“free” stuff. Not the Government.

⁉️What is the PM talking about? His Budget just kept the Energy Profits Levy -the windfall tax - until 2030! This is complete incompetence. 👉There is no windfall. 👉But Oil &amp; Gas companies are still paying windfall taxes. 👉By the PM’s own logic the EPL must be scrapped. Now.

The Government had a choice today - ☑️To vote for North Sea oil &amp; gas sector, its jobs, skills investment, tax and domestic supply… Or… ❌To vote for more foreign imports. 🥀 They chose imports.

Ed Miliband says thinking gas prices will fall is a "big gamble". 🎲I'd take that bet. Very happily. Gas prices will rise. And they will fall. What won't fall is the sky high offshore wind price (higher than the current gas power price) Ed has signed us all up to for 20 years.

China is a threat. So we’d expect the Energy Secretary to have discussed his energy deal with China with the Security Minister before it was signed. The deal effectively gives China access to our energy grid. Doesn’t sound like he did. Ed really was trying to keep it secret.

So a year from now – almost 2.5 years after Labour’s general election win, when they promised GB Energy would be the answer to #OilAndGas job losses in Aberdeen / North East, we can look forward to… just 100 GB Energy jobs. We are losing that weekly from the oil &amp; gas sector.

The Government could approve Jackdaw and Rosebank today. They could choose to support the UK’s oil &amp; gas sector, its workers and energy supplies today. It’s their choice. 🥀 They’re choosing not to.

Conservatives voted to stop Labour’s ban on new licences, end the EPL and permit Rosebank and Jackdaw. 👉Labour voted against 👉SNP didn’t vote 👉Only 1 Reform MP turned up The Aberdeen South by-election is a referendum on oil &amp; gas. It’s clear which party is fighting for it.

Since imposing the Family Farm and Family Business Tax, the Government have told farmers &amp; business owners to "get their affairs in order". What they meant was to rely on the 7-year rule for Inheritance Tax transfers. 🥀Now we hear reports they are to remove this lifeline. 1/2

❓Kicking off the new year with- what should be - an easy question to the Energy Minister. Interesting answer...given I asked about #oilandgas prices and didn't mention the Energy Profits Levy! How can the Energy Minister not know the price of energy? Not even ballpark figures?

🥀 This makes no sense: The Government have, themselves, defined an #oilandgas windfall. By their own definition, there are no windfall profits. Nor have there been for a number of years. Yet… they are keeping the Energy Profits Levy (the windfall tax) for another 4 years?🤷‍♀️

So many people have had a part in the Family Farm Tax (partial) u-turn. I worked with farmers for years before politics &amp; know one thing for sure- they NEVER give up! Hopefully Labour are learning that too. Today is a relief to many farms, but not all. We need a full scrapping.

🛢️Oil &amp; Gas jobs are being destroyed by the Energy Profits Levy. But instead of doing anything about it, Labour just quibble about the exact number. What number is acceptable? ❌ 100 a month? 200? 500? 1,000? The fact is jobs are being lost at a rate no one should tolerate.

Not scrapping the Energy Profits Levy is a strong contender for the worst decision in the Budget. Tens of thousands of jobs and billions in taxes and investment. All lost.

GMB💔Labour The Gov's anti-oil &amp; gas policies are ideological and irrational. It doesn't matter who says it - the industry, the many 1,000s losing jobs, academics, charities &amp; now even their pals in the Unions. 🥀But Labour think they know best. 🥀So Labour ignore them all.
