A software professional has filed a police complaint against Tech Mahindra, alleging that she was unfairly terminated after taking leave due to health issues and to care for her unwell daughter. The complainant, identified as Bhavana, alleged that she was subjected to repeated pressure from the company's management to return to work while she was on medical leave. She claimed that after taking nearly two weeks of leave for treatment, she received frequent emails asking her to resume work and warning her about her absence. Bhavana further alleged that when she later sought three days of leave to care for her sick daughter, the management questioned the duration of her leave and subsequently terminated her employment without a valid reason. She also claimed that employees were required to seek permission even to use the washroom and described the workplace as excessively restrictive. Appealing to software companies, Bhavana said women employees should be treated with greater understanding, as they also have family responsibilities. Following her dismissal, Bhavana staged a protest outside Tech Mahindra's office in Medchal, demanding justice and alleging that she had been deliberately removed from her job. She has also filed a complaint with the police seeking action against the company. Tech Mahindra has not publicly responded to the allegations at the time of reporting. The matter is under investigation.

A long-running family property dispute turned violent in Hyderabad's Secunderabad after a 33-year-old woman allegedly attempted to murder her mother-in-law by attacking her with a kitchen knife inside their house in Chilkalguda. The accused, D Vijayalakshmi, 33, was arrested by Chilkalguda Police within 24 hours of the incident and has been remanded to judicial custody. According to the police, the incident occurred around 9 am on July 21 at Erukala Basti, Chilkalguda, when the victim, Devarai Padmavathi, 57, was alone on the first floor of her residence. Investigators alleged that Vijayalakshmi entered the house armed with a sharp vegetable-cutting knife, grabbed her mother-in-law by the hair, dragged her inside and repeatedly attacked her with the intention of killing her. The victim sustained serious injuries to her neck and fingers during the assault. Her cries for help alerted neighbours, who rushed to the house, intervened and rescued her. Padmavathi was immediately shifted to Gandhi Hospital, where she was admitted for emergency treatment. Police said her condition is currently stable. During the investigation, police found that Padmavathi and Vijayalakshmi had been involved in a long-standing dispute over the ownership of the family house in Chilkalguda. Investigators believe the simmering property conflict culminated in the alleged knife attack. Based on the victim's complaint, Chilkalguda Police registered Crime No. 356/2026 under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and launched an investigation. A police team inspected the crime scene, collected forensic evidence, examined CCTV footage from the locality, recorded statements of witnesses and seized the knife allegedly used in the attack. Acting on credible information, police arrested Vijayalakshmi on July 22. During interrogation, the accused allegedly admitted to committing the offence. Investigators also seized the clothes she was allegedly wearing during the attack as part of the evidence. The accused was produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody, while further investigation is underway.

Police said Chethan, who is believed to be a distant relative of the victim, boarded the same bus and sat next to her. The accused had allegedly been pursuing Lavanya despite her repeatedly rejecting his advances. Sensing something was wrong, Lavanya reportedly called one of her relatives and informed them that a young man had sat beside her on the bus. The call was disconnected shortly afterwards. After Lavanya got off the bus at the BC Road bus stand, the accused allegedly followed her. Police said he then took out a machete from a bag and chased her. Despite her attempt to escape, he allegedly attacked her repeatedly before fleeing the scene. Police personnel from the Bantwal subdivision and Bantwal Town Police Station rushed to the spot soon after receiving information about the incident and began an investigation. Lavanya, who sustained critical injuries, was immediately shifted to Bantwal Taluk Hospital. However, she succumbed to her injuries despite efforts to save her. After the attack, the accused allegedly fled towards Mangaluru in an Alto car. During his escape, he reportedly called Lavanya's father and told him that he had killed his daughter and intended to end his own life. Acting swiftly, the Bantwal subdivision police formed a special investigation team. Using mobile phone location data and CCTV footage, officers traced and arrested the accused along with the vehicle near Vamanjoor-Pacchanadi on the outskirts of Mangaluru. Police sources said the accused had allegedly created a disturbance at the private hospital where Lavanya worked about a month earlier. Hospital staff reportedly intervened and prevented the situation from escalating. A 28-year-old businessman in Faridabad died by suicide inside his shop on Sunday after hanging himself. Before taking the extreme step, he posted a video on Instagram in which he accused his wife and her family of mentally harassing him. Police have launched an investigation and are also examining the allegations made in the video. In the Instagram video posted before his death, Rahul accused his wife Jyoti, his mother-in-law Veena, his father-in-law Bittu and his wife's sister Neetu of mentally harassing him. He claimed that despite doing all household chores, including sweeping and washing utensils, he was assaulted, and false cases were filed against him. He said he had been living under constant mental stress. Rahul also said in the video that his wife and her family were responsible for his death and should be punished according to the law. He further said that after his death, his property should go to his mother, sister and brothers. The victim, Rahul, had opened a garment shop around four months ago. According to police, Rahul met his mother at home on Sunday morning before leaving for his shop. A short while later, he hanged himself inside the shop. Police reached the spot after receiving information, took custody of the body and sent it to hospital for post-mortem. According to Rahul's family, he had married a woman named Jyoti in a love marriage around two years ago. They alleged that after the marriage, his wife did not want him to live with his parents, following which he started living separately. They said Rahul had recently opened his new garment shop. A family member, Amit, alleged that Rahul had been under severe mental stress due to harassment by his wife and her family. He claimed that Rahul's wife had also filed a case against him, which added to his stress. The family further alleged that Rahul was not even allowed to meet his parents. Investigating officer Sanjay Kumar said police have sent the body for post-mortem and are investigating the case. He said the viral social media video has been included in the investigation and that the allegations made in it will be verified during the probe.

A 20-year-old beautician and makeup artist died by suicide in Uttar Pradesh after recording a video accusing four people of repeatedly harassing and blackmailing her, saying they had "ruined" her life, while her husband claimed that the harassment involved AI-generated videos that were used to blackmail her. Komal Mishra, who lived with her husband Saurabh Dwivedi in UP's Etawah district, sent the video to him moments before taking the extreme step. In the recording, she named Rubina Khan, Sabina Khan, Abhishek Singh and Ritesh Roy, holding them responsible for her death. "These four people are the reason I am hanging myself... They have ruined my home. If I die, they should be imprisoned for life," Komal said in the video. She also said that the accused had been threatening to reveal details of her life before marriage to her husband and in-laws, leaving her under severe mental stress. As per her husband, the harassment also involved AI-generated videos and photographs that were being used to blackmail her. "My husband is very nice. He loves me a lot... He should not be blamed for my death," Komal said in the video, adding that she alone was taking the decision. Saurabh, who works as a clerk at the Barhpura block office, said he rushed Komal to a hospital after receiving the video, but doctors declared her dead. He told police that Komal worked as a makeup artist, beautician and event organiser and had recently returned from Jaipur. According to him, some of her acquaintances had been harassing and blackmailing her using AI-generated videos and morphed photographs, leaving her under immense mental distress. Komal and Saurabh had married for love around three-and-a-half years ago and are survived by their two young children. Police said they have recovered multiple videos from Komal's mobile phone and are verifying the allegations made in the recording. "The videos recovered from the deceased's mobile phone are being examined and further legal action will be taken based on the evidence collected during the investigation," police said. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination and further investigation is underway.

Police said the accused had allegedly been harassing her and suspect the murder was linked to her repeated rejection of his advances. The incident has sparked widespread outrage across the district, with residents demanding stringent action against the accused. In a big twist in the death of real estate firm director Ketan Vishal Agrawal, police on Tuesday arrested his fiancée and her lover for allegedly pushing him into a deep gorge off Lohagad Fort in Pune and passing it off as an accident, officials said. While the incident, which occurred on June 18, was initially believed to be a case of an accidental fall at the historic Lohagad Fort, the investigation pointed to a murder conspiracy, they said. Agarwal (26), a resident of Gahunje in Pune district and director of a family-run real estate business, was found dead in a gorge near the fort on June 18. The police had then said Agarwal fell nearly 400 feet into the gorge while taking photographs during a trek with his fiancée and friends amid strong winds at the fort. An accidental death report was registered after his fiancée, Siya Goyal, told the Lonavala rural police that Agarwal had slipped and fallen while the couple was on an outing at the hill fort. Agarwal was scheduled to marry Goyal later this year. It was learned that the families had made elaborate wedding preparations, including booking a palace in Udaipur, Rajasthan, for the ceremony. Superintendent of Police, Pune rural, Sandip Singh Gill, said the circumstances surrounding the death appeared suspicious, which prompted police to investigate the case thoroughly. "Our teams examined multiple angles, including financial disputes and personal relationships. During the probe, police allegedly found that Goyal was in a relationship with another man, identified as Chetan Babulal Chaudhary (22), a resident of Kondhwa in Pune," he said. The investigation showed that Goyal was unwilling to marry Agarwal and considered him an obstacle to her relationship with Chaudhary, the official said. The two allegedly conspired to eliminate Agarwal. As part of the plan, Goyal took him to Lohagad Fort under the pretext of an outing, while Chaudhary was called to the spot later. The duo then allegedly pushed Agarwal off the fort, leading to his death, police said. Based on suspicion, the local crime branch took Chaudhary into custody. During interrogation, it emerged that since Agarwal was becoming an obstacle in Chaudhary's relationship with Goyal, both of them plotted to eliminate her fiancé. Goyal was also arrested based on Chaudhary's interrogation, the police said. "Following a complaint lodged by Ketan's father, Vishal Agarwal, the Lonavala rural police registered a case of murder and criminal conspiracy under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita on Tuesday," Gill said. Further investigation is underway to establish the exact sequence of events, collect forensic evidence and determine if other persons were involved in the alleged conspiracy, police officials said. Lohagad fort is linked to the history of Maratha empire founder Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It is one of the 12 forts in Maharashtra listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

A 21-year-old man was arrested within 24 hours for allegedly murdering his 61-year-old neighbour, stuffing her body into a suitcase and dumping it in a lake near Ramasandra in southwest Bengaluru. Police said the accused allegedly killed the woman to rob her gold jewellery and raise money to repay debts incurred due to online gaming. The accused has been identified as Gagan Rajegowda (21), a resident of Yellappa Layout in Challaghatta, Kengeri, and a native of Ganganahalli village in Mandya district. The victim was identified as Jayamma Boregowda (61), who had been reported missing earlier by her family. Senior officer told reporters,that at around 12.33 pm on July 21, a Hoysala patrol team responded to information about a red suitcase floating in Thimmappa Lake near Ramasandra (Ramohalli). When officers opened the suitcase, they found the body of an unidentified elderly woman. A murder case was immediately registered and a special investigation team was formed. Investigators later established the victim’s identity as Jayamma, whose disappearance had already been reported at Kumbalagodu Police Station. During the investigation, police team relied on CCTV footage and technical evidence, which revealed that Jayamma had visited Gagan’s house on July 15 and had used his mobile phone to call one of her relatives. This led investigators to the accused. Police said Gagan allegedly confessed that he strangled Jayamma, stole her 30-gram gold chain, earrings and finger ring, placed her body inside a red suitcase, transported it on a two-wheeler and dumped it in the lake in an attempt to destroy evidence. Further the officer said the accused had allegedly planned the robbery after accumulating debts due to his online gaming addiction. The exact extent of his financial liabilities is still under investigation. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest)Anitha B Haddannavar said scientific evidence and CCTV footage played a crucial role in solving the case. Police have recovered key evidence, and further investigation is underway.

A 42-year-old man, against whom a video alleging misbehaviour with a woman passenger on a bus had surfaced on social media, was found hanging dead at his residence on Sunday, police said. The deceased was identified as Deepak U, a native of #Puthiyara, who was residing at #Govindhapuram, #Kozhikode. According to police, around 7 am, Deepak’s parents knocked on the bedroom door to wake him up, but there was no response despite repeated attempts. They later entered the room with the help of neighbours and found him hanging from a ceiling fan, police said. The police were immediately informed and, upon reaching the house, confirmed the death. Relatives said Deepak was employed at a textile firm and had travelled to #Kannur on Friday in connection with his work. On the same day, a woman passenger travelling on the bus in which Deepak was seated had recorded a video alleging that he misbehaved with her, a relative told reporters. The video was widely circulated on social media and had come to Deepak’s notice, police said. According to relatives, Deepak denied the allegation and had been under severe mental distress since the video surfaced. The medical college police have registered a case of unnatural death and initiated an investigation. Police said a preliminary inquiry indicated it was a suspected case of suicide, and the probe would also examine the circumstances surrounding the circulation of the video.

A shocking incident came to light where a principal of the PG College in Kollapur town of Nagarkurnool district, in Telangana, allegedly attempted to sexually assault a student who had come to collect his transfer certificate, and in the process, the student bit the man’s genitals to escape. According to reports, the student, a resident of Jagityal district, completed his MBA from the PG College affiliated to the Palamuru University in 2025. He had come to the college two days ago to collect his TC for higher studies. He met the Principal, Dr. Marke Poloneyes, for the document. The student alleged that the principal tried to force him and harassed him mentally and physically, demanding "unnatural sexual acts". On the night of July 7, the principal allegedly called the student to his room and forced him to undress. To protect himself, the student resisted and, in self-defense, bit the principal’s private parts. The principal suffered bleeding and started screaming in pain. Hearing the commotion, students rushed to the room and found the principal in a naked state. The principal panicked and reportedly hid in the bathroom and later fled from the college. Though it is not clear whether he called him home or to his room is yet to be verified. The incident was caught on camera by some students, and the video has now surfaced online, helping shed light on the incident. Fellow students also alleged that the principal had earlier harassed several other male students. Student union leaders staged protests in front of the college, demanding his dismissal from the post and have him arrested. They, along with the victim, reportedly lodged a complaint at Kollapur Police Station and demanded the immediate arrest of the principal and stringent legal action against him. They said that Mark, who had been working at the PG Centre for the past five years, was harassing both male and female students. Kollapur police have registered a case and launched an investigation, and are making efforts to trace the principal, who is currently absconding.
