I asked Khaman Maluach if he feels he’s too good for Summer League, considering the dominant performances. “I don’t think there’s such a thing as too good. Even great players like LeBron James, they still have more to learn, so I don’t think there’s such a thing like that. I just go out there and play my game. I just go out there and leave it all out on the floor. I don’t think about no rebounds, I don’t think about no points because those are just numbers. I control what I control, and that’s my effort. That’s my energy and communication, and my leadership.”

Khaman Maluach has been living inside the Suns practice facility this offseason. “Pretty much every day I’ve been here. Monday to Friday, some weeks Monday to Saturday. It depends on what my body feels like but we’ve been in here in the gym. Me, Koby, Rasheer, some of our older teammates. We’ve been here working and just trusting the process and making sure we’re doing the right thing every day.”

DeWanna Bonner told Eliav Gabay if she has any advice navigating a teammate relationship after the news with Azzi Fudd and Paige Bueckers. “I feel my personal relationship is my personal relationship. AT (Alyssa Thomas) and I have been doing this for a long time. I feel like we know how to handle things. We handle business when it’s business, and we have our relationship… I just feel like it’s personal preference and whatever that people feel like they need to do in their relationship to keep it going, that’s what they do.”

I asked Alyssa Thomas about the Connecticut Sun planning to honor her later this season. “I spent 11 years of my career there. If you didn’t play there, you don’t understand Connecticut and what it meant to play there. So, I’m just honored to to be honored by such a great franchise. Like I said, I gave my whole career to that franchise.”

Khaman Maluach on what has grown off the court from his rookie to sophomore season. “I think I’ve always had the mental edge. I just had to go to the next level. I think the mental part was a good part, too. It’s a big piece of the game of basketball. It’s almost 90% mental than physical. I’ve always worked with that… learning from older guys, for example, reaching out to other bigs in the NBA and being able to learn from them. I asked who he reached out too. “I reached out to Rudy (Gobert) and I asked him how he keeps up with his body. What he does throughout the whole summer, and just really learn from him and have something to take away from him.”

I asked Satou Sabally why she and the Mercury enjoy being underestimated. “To me, it’s a disrespect to what those two (Kahleah Copper and Alyssa Thomas) have done. They’re gold medalists. They’re all-stars. To put disrespect on people who have literally been in the league for so long, that just fuels us.”

I asked Valériane Ayayi about her FIBA clearance after missing the first two games and if there was anything she could share about that process. “The club I played for, in Prague, didn’t release my letter of clearance because I opted out of my contract. So, there’s no more things that I can say because we are still on the procedure. But yeah, this was them blocking me actually because they didn’t want me to opt out.”

Jordan Ott spoke to the conversation he had with Dillon Brooks midway through the third quarter. The latter was shouting at Ott about the previous possession where he had a mismatch and wasn’t found. “He told me I sucked in so many words that I messed up the last couple of possessions on who to get involved with him. He was right.” “A lot of times I’m just smiling. The emotion, the passion, the care factor from and really the rest of the guys too, especially in these types of environments. To be in those, it’s new for me.”

Mark Williams didn’t hold back when Duane Rankin asked him about not playing in the fourth quarter. He had 11 points and 10 rebounds through the first three quarters. “It’s tough. That’s what Coach (Ott) felt was best. We’ll probably go over it tomorrow in film, but I mean I felt good. I thought I’d get back in, but that’s how the game went.”

Spoke with Cheryl Reeve about her team’s NET rating (1st in the league at 10.3) and what she believes is the reasoning. “That’s probably an hour-long interview… there’s many times you put a team together and it just doesn’t work, and we’ve been fortunate that this team in particular, I didn’t know that we’d find a starting five that had more chemistry and synergy than the last two years of ‘24 and ‘25.”
