A father left his son more than $10 million. He left his two daughters nothing. Now they’re asking their brother to pay off their $300,000 in student loans. Caller: “My father left everything to me… his house, his investments, his business. He didn’t give anything to my sisters.” George Kamel: “He purposefully didn’t leave any money to your sisters?” Caller: “Yes.” George Kamel: “And now they’re resentful because they feel like they deserve a portion of this money.” Caller: “It seems like it.” Jade Warshaw: “Why did he cut them off?” Caller: “My mother had an affair. My sisters sided with my mother because they liked the affair partner more. I sided with my father.” George Kamel: “I think you’re going to be resentful if you give this money. I’d rather them be resentful towards you than you be resentful towards them.” “There’s no easy answer here.” “They’re going to hate you.”

Idris Elba says he didn’t know Stringer Bell was going to die… and admits he’s never watched “The Wire.” Idris Elba: “I didn’t ever meet the real character. I took my inspiration for Stringer from people I knew in the UK. Gangsters that were more suits and smiles than, “Yo.”” Idris Elba: “They were understated, listened more than they talked, and moved with grace instead of trying to be big and tough all the time.” Idris Elba: “The scene where Stringer dies… It was a really tough scene to shoot because I didn’t know Stringer was going to die in that episode.” Idris Elba: “I was like, “What? Wait… what? He dies? What do you mean? It was quite a surprise. I think it was a good move for the show.” Host: “Looking back on the show, how do you think it holds up 20 years later?” Idris Elba: “Famously, I haven’t seen it. I’ve seen some parts of it, I think it holds up. The writing was so good, and the perspective of that part of America was crystal clear.”

Idris Elba says he was given one warning before auditioning for The Wire: don’t let them know you’re British. Trevor Noah: “I’ve seen people get shocked when they find out you’re not American.” Idris Elba: “I was unemployed, bro.” “I was living in New Jersey. I was bartending, working the door, DJing.” “Before you know it, you just start speaking like an American.” “Then my casting director said, ‘This thing has come up. It’s called The Wire.’” “‘But if you go in, you cannot let them know you aren’t American.’” “‘This is about Baltimore. It’s very specific.’” “So I auditioned for four weeks straight in an American accent.” “Then at the fourth audition, they looked at me and said…” “‘Idris… where are you from?’” Trevor Noah: “‘Where are you from?’ That’s the phrase every immigrant is terrified of hearing.” Idris Elba: “My palms started sweating.” “I’m thinking… they told you not to say anything.” “I looked at them and said…” “‘I’m from East London.’” “The room just exploded.” “‘Oh my God… we had a bet.’” “‘We knew you weren’t from Baltimore or Brooklyn, but we never guessed England.’” “‘You got the job.’” “‘We don’t want you to play Avon.” “We want you to play Stringer Bell.’” “I walked out thinking…” “‘Did my life just change?’”

Anton Daniels argued many Black job applicants couldn’t get hired because they failed drug tests… Tharon Johnson disagreed. Anton Daniels: I work with automakers here in Metro Detroit. Chrysler opened a new plant. Ford went on a hiring spree. The main reason most people couldn’t get those jobs… overwhelmingly Black people who applied is because they couldn’t pass the drug test. Stephen A. Smith: But how prevalent is that, Anton? You can find those cases, but to give the impression that’s the vast majority is where the problem occurs. Tharon Johnson: Anton, let’s go back to Detroit. You can’t tell me people aren’t benefiting from having Mary Sheffield in office. She earned it. She ran against the establishment. Tharon Johnson: But I agree with Stephen A. Let’s not put this on Black folks. Hispanics fail drug tests. Asians fail. White people fail too. We can’t isolate that to just the Black community. Anton Daniels: You’re moving the goalposts because the question was specifically about the Black community. We’re not talking about Asians or white people. We’re talking about taking self-accountability. Stephen A. Smith: I did ask the question specifically about the Black community. He’s right about that. Go ahead. Anton Daniels: I’m not going to lean on somebody else to justify why we are or aren’t doing better. Anton Daniels: I’m not going to criticize Mary Sheffield because she just got into office. She deserves a chance. Anton Daniels: But we also can’t ignore the leaders who came before her and the decisions that led Detroit to bankruptcy. Anton Daniels: At some point, you have to stop voting based on identity and start voting for the person who’s best for the job.

A woman blamed the U.S. healthcare system… then Caleb Hammer asked one question. Caleb Hammer: “What health insurance do you have right now?” Girlfriend: “None.” Caleb Hammer: “That’s your fault. The Affordable Care Act is there for you. Healthcare. gov is there for you to enroll in things that are completely subsidized.” Boyfriend: “I’ve been trying to get you to apply to stuff.” Caleb Hammer: “This sounds like a you problem.” Caleb Hammer: “Don’t get me wrong, health insurance in this country is ridiculously expensive. You’re not going to get me defending it by any means.” Caleb Hammer: “But when you take the stance of, ‘It’s bad,’ and I’ve done nothing… what am I going to say?” Girlfriend: “Being a woman in the United States with a chronic health condition, you’re more likely to go undiagnosed for 10-plus years.” Caleb Hammer: “Girl, you haven’t signed up for health insurance to go to the doctor when you get it for free.” Girlfriend: “I mean, even when I’ve had health insurance…” Caleb Hammer: “You’re getting me to defend a system that’s certainly broken because you literally haven’t taken five minutes to go online and sign up for something that I pay taxes for.” Caleb Hammer: “I don’t think it’s because you’re a woman. I think it’s because you haven’t gone.”

Everyone says FIFA favors Messi… Joe says it’s actually Ronaldo. Trevor: This tournament has a lot of people feeling like it’s scripted. Trevor: There are many people who feel like Argentina and Lionel Messi are the darlings of FIFA… and Infantino does everything in his power to make sure they have an easy path in the tournament. Joe: I disagree. Trevor: You disagree because you love Messi. Joe: No, I disagree because of facts. Argentina was supposed to play either Spain or Uruguay… but Uruguay bottled it. Football isn’t scripted. The big teams mess up. Argentina takes care of business. Joe: So now, when you talk about Messi… this is going to sound biased, but if anything… Joe: FIFA favors Ronaldo. Trevor: Wow. Joe: Ronaldo got a red card before the World Cup. He was supposed to have an automatic three-match ban. Joe: But what did FIFA do? They gave him one match and suspended the other two. Trevor: You’re right. We’ve never had a suspended sentence in football. Cristiano Ronaldo is the first recipient. Joe: Imagine if Messi had received that preferential treatment.

A guest told Caleb Hammer she was in debt because of the last election. Caleb challenged her reasoning. Caleb Hammer: “So, what’s going on?” Guest: “I’m actually kind of in debt because of the past election.” Caleb Hammer: “Well, at least you acknowledge it. What the… do you possibly mean?” Guest: “Most of my clients are affected by how the economy works.” “My boyfriend’s in construction, and his income has been affected drastically.” Caleb Hammer: “Wouldn’t that have affected his job three or four years ago too… and then gotten a little better for a while?” Guest: “Yes. We were kind of doing okay at that point.” Caleb Hammer: “People think the president has a lot more impact than they do.” “The effects of things like tariffs take time to work through the economy.” “We’re on the same trajectory we’ve been on in terms of job numbers.” “If Kamala was president, would you be saying the exact same thing… that because of the last election you’ve lost money?” Guest: “Probably.” Caleb Hammer: “So, you blame everyone but yourselves.” Guest: “No.”

The wife of former President Barack Obama says she had to fight for her family because the White House wasn’t built with wives and children in mind. Michelle Obama: “I didn’t know enough to know what to ask for.” Steven Bartlett: “What should you have said?” Michell Obama: “I should have said that I needed his team to really truly value that he had a family” Michelle Obama: “The whole system of it doesn’t really take into account that there’s a wife and kids and their needs.” Michelle Obama: “I wound up having to fight for a lot of stuff on my own.” Michelle Obama: “It was important for me that we find two detail leaders that stayed with the girls for most of their time.” Michelle Obama: “I was trying to make sure that our kids came out of that process not crazy and whole.”

Stephen A. Smith asked who’s to blame for the state of Black America. Stephen A. Smith: “Who do you hold most culpable for it?” Tharon Johnson: “I think it’s a confluence of the lack of leadership on the federal level starting with President Trump.” Tharon Johnson: “We’ve got to be more emboldened to hold the elected officials accountable.” Anton Daniels: “I think that there’s a lack of accountability and victimhood, as long as we continue to promote that it’s somebody else’s fault…” Anton Daniels: “It has nothing to do with the political landscape, it has everything to do with self-accountability.”

Tom Holland thought Christopher Nolan kept stopping a scene in The Odyssey because he didn't like their performance. Interviewer: “What was your most daunting moment while making The Odyssey?” Tom Holland: “My first day was probably one of the most daunting experiences of my career.” “Just being part of a movie of this scale… and that scene was one of the most important in my character’s arc.” “It was a very emotional scene. John Boyega was with me, and it was his first day too.” “We finished the day, and it wasn’t until I left that I thought, ‘Oh… I can totally do this. I can swim in these waters.’” “Working with the IMAX camera for the first time is an experience.” “I didn’t know it only ran for three minutes.” “I remember Christopher Nolan kept cutting, and I was with John like, “Why does he keep cutting?”” “In my head I’m thinking, “Does he not like what we’re doing? What is happening?”” Interviewer: “You’re the third person I’ve spoken to this week who’s said that.” Tom Holland: “Then George Cottle told me, “No, no, no… there’s only three minutes in the mag.”” “I was like… “Oh, thank God.”” Interviewer: “That’s a very common refrain. John said that. Lupita said that.” “But you’re incredible in that scene.” Tom Holland: “Thank you very much.”

Caleb Hammer asked her to define fascism. It only got more heated from there. Caleb Hammer: “Please describe fascism.” “What is the economic and political structure of fascism?” Guest: “Fascism is when you suppress dissent.” Caleb Hammer: “That’s it?” “The entire economic and political structure of fascism… and that’s your definition?” Guest: “There’s many facets of it…” Caleb Hammer: “Please describe the economic structure of fascism.” Guest: “Fascism is when you silence dissent.” Caleb Hammer: “Okay… let’s try to get a second one in there.” Guest: “Fascism is also when you oppress minorities.” Caleb Hammer: “You’re basically using the same talking point.” “Do you actually have anything that can describe what fascism really is?” Guest: “Fascism is… private prisons.” Caleb Hammer: “That’s not what defines fascism.” “You use buzzwords, and you know no actual reality.” Guest: “I know that we are suffering, and there’s got to be an alternative.” Caleb Hammer: “Suffering has gone down substantially under capitalism.” Guest: “Capitalism allows people to die.” Caleb Hammer: “Did anyone ever die under communism?” Guest: “People aren’t prioritized as much as profits are.” Caleb Hammer: “If you don’t know about bankruptcy, then don’t comment on medical debt.”

Officer Tatum challenges Gary Chambers to name one thing Democrats have done for Black Americans. Officer Tatum: Mr. Chambers cannot mention one thing that Democrats have done for the Black community. I’ll mention a few things Donald Trump has. And I’ll wait for him to start. Stephen A. Smith: Gary, I’ll give you an opportunity to respond directly to what Officer Tatum just said. Gary Chambers: When you talk about majority Black cities, conservatives have always run the government that approves the spending. Gary Chambers: We make up 56% of the city, but we don’t have a majority on the council because of gerrymandering and racialized voting. Gary Chambers: The East Baton Rouge Parish school system is 80% Black, but we have a majority white Republican school board because the legislature continues to deny Black people fair representation. Gary Chambers: So when you talk about these things, you chuckle because you don’t have anything to go against these facts. Officer Tatum: Here you go. You just said your daughter goes to a public school in that parish. Gary Chambers: Public schools. Officer Tatum: You said your daughter is doing well in those public schools. Stephen A. Smith: Hold on, guys. Nobody’s getting cut off here. You can listen to each other. Go ahead, Officer Tatum. Officer Tatum: So make your mind up. Are the white Republicans doing negative things that’s causing your daughter to go to a bad school… or does your daughter go to a very successful school in the parish you’re talking about that’s run by white Republicans?

They have to want more.” Michelle Obama: “Hope and change isn’t a you’ll do it. It is a we thing.”
