From my point of view, the biggest challenge of this role is that Wenyifan has been through a lot in the past. The sense of brokenness that people often talk about nowadays—how to truly convey that feeling—is incredibly difficult. Moreover, this brokenness is not just an emotional expression, it’s an overall state, a deep connection to the character’s essence. It’s something very tricky to grasp because it can’t be deliberately exaggerated. Wenyifan is a girl who is extremely restrained and strong-willed, so bringing out that personality naturally is actually quite challenging. I love the fact that both of them know that wenyifan has been through a lot yet the first thing that came to their minds after that is how strong she is.
