🩵: My fan name is 'Nan Penyou' (Nan's friends but also same pronounce as Boyfriend). It means Zhang Ruonan's friends. I just wanted to capture the idea through this play of word. Once people starts to talk about it, you really can’t control it (ill explain below). And honestly, I don’t even know which part of myself gives people that kind of impression...... Let me give the most real example for instance, The First Frost just finished airing recently, and I cried for a whole day at home. Because I really love this drama. I really love The First Frost. 👤: When you first accepted this drama, what was it about Wenyifan character that attracted you? #Zhangruonan: Everyone who read the novel actually knows that Yifan is someone who, at first glance, seems very broken. She's gone through a lot. But if you truly try to understand her as a person, you’ll realize that she has a very strong and resilient heart. After experiencing all those things, she never complained or asked, “Why did this happen to me?” About her decision to leave Sang Yan, it might seem like she was walking away, but in reality, she did it to protect this man. She also felt that she wasn’t worthy of him. This is where her inner insecurities lie. However, i felt deep down, she is actually a strong person. No matter how many hardships she faced, she gritted her teeth and kept moving forward, living earnestly. She may be fragile, but that doesn’t mean she depends on others. Even before meeting Sang Yan, she was still living her life—working when she needed to work, and living her life. But when Sang Yan came, he truly healed her. He was like sunlight shining into her life. “Even if you didn’t come, I would still get by and push through. 🩵: ...The mental state is based on the real environment of each scene, the cues from my co-actors, the director’s guidance, and the improvisations with bai ge. These spontaneous interactions is to make the scene to be more interesting/meaningful. 👤: Which spontaneous interactions left the deepest impressions to you? 🩵: It's the drunk scene. The drunk scene on the sofa at home. Actually for the final shoot, it turned out quite different from the rehearsals. They asked if there was a problem with picking up the scene (🍃❄️ wants to focused on authenticity). Because director simply told us 'Here is the area, just perform and act within this area (sofa). I think when people get drunk, they lose control—they might sit up...suddenly i cry, suddenly laugh, or i might suddenly collapse all that. So, we trusted our co-actor and performed naturally. 👤: In your perspective, what do you think of #zhangruonan as the best fit as Wenyifan? #baijingting: In terms of fit/suitability there are many aspects (that makes her the best fit as wenyifan). From my point of view, the biggest challenge of this role is that Wenyifan has been through a lot in the past. The sense of brokenness that people often talk about nowadays—how to truly convey that feeling—is incredibly difficult. Moreover, this brokenness is not just an emotional expression, it’s an overall state, a deep connection to the character’s essence. It’s something very tricky to grasp because it can’t be deliberately exaggerated. Wenyifan is a girl who is extremely restrained and strong-willed, so bringing out that personality naturally is actually quite challenging. I love the fact that both of them know that wenyifan has been through a lot yet the first thing that came to their minds after that is how strong she is.
