Murray State assistant Jordan Verhulst was the lead recruiter in Murray State landing their highest ranked recruit in program history in local 2027 4⭐️ G Justin Frison. Frison - who is repped by Zach Lucchesi of Sports Network LLC - chose Murray State over Charleston, Memphis, West Virginia, and Ole Miss. Just recently visited Murray and Charleston and was slated to visit Memphis, WVU and Ole Miss in October, but Murray turned up the pressure and landed their highest ranked recruit in program history. Averaged 15.7 PPG 5.1 REB 7.3 AST (lead EYBL) and 2.1 STL on 51/37/79 shooting splits. Very hard finding an efficient scoring guard that prioritizes creating first. Love the pickup Justin F.

NEWS: Memphis is involved with Arkansas transfer 6’4” G DJ Wagner, per source. Given the inflated market + name value, he has/will get offers in the ballpark of $1.5 million (low end around $1.1 w/ high end being around $1.5+). However, Wagner has already earned well over 7 figures at Arky + is primarily looking for a higher usage role for himself. Don’t expect money to be a deciding factor in this recruitment. Wagner - a former 5⭐️ recruit with ties to Memphis - averaged 7.4 PPG and 2.4 AST on 43/35/72 shooting splits on a sweet 16 team.

One of the best bigs left in the portal is FAU transfer 6’10” Devin Williams. He tells me he’s recently heard from the following: - Arizona (visiting tomorrow) - North Carolina - Virginia Tech - Oklahoma - Lots of other HM+ schools Williams finished top-3 in the country in blocks last season, establishing himself as one of the most elite rim protectors. His 11.1% BLK rate placed him in the 98th percentile. Offensively, he inserted himself as a lob threat with the ability to knock down open jumpers. NEWS: Memphis HC Penny Hardaway completed a call with Texas A&M 6’1” G Josh Holloway on Wednesday night, per source. Source adds that Memphis has made him a priority, as financial limitations push them away from other priority guard targets (Garland, Reid, etc.) The Memphis native averaged 4.6 PPG 1.7 REB and 1.8 AST on 51/40/69 shooting splits. Per Sam Kayser, he is now considering the following schools: West Virginia, Memphis and USC.

NEWS: 2026 6’10” Houston HS (Memphis, TN) C Kaleb Davis just picked up an offer from Virginia Tech and Charlotte, his agency Sports Network LLC tells me. 6’10” w/ 7’3” wingspan. Elite rim protector (2.9 BLKs per game, 2nd in 3SSB). High motor. Virginia Tech, Charlotte, La Salle, Arkansas State, UAB, SEMO, + others are currently involved. As the transfer portal dries up + teams look to add depth bigs, Kaleb Davis is a no brainer add imo. High character kid. He will be playing with Team Thad Nation 17U in this upcoming EYBL live session and looks to make a decision soon.

NEWS: Memphis has landed a commitment from 24-year old Serbian 6’9” big Nemanja Popovic, per multiple sources. Popovic averaged 14.3 PTS and 6.4 REB for King Szczecin in Poland’s PLK league. One euro scout: “Plays very physical. Talks a lot of shit. Legit grown man pro. He’s solid and likely starts for Memphis, which is great for them this late in the cycle.” Interesting note: Former Memphis C Malcolm Dandridge was teammates with Popovic this past season.

NEWS: Memphis has a zoom set up with SEMO transfer 6’3” G Luke Almodovar, per source. Pitt, UAB, USF, Pepperdine, Ball State + others are involved as well. Averaged 14.1 PPG and 3.7 REB on 43/32/76 shooting splits. Very good athlete with some real wiggle to his handle. Mostly used as a 2-guard (70% of jump shots off the catch + 43% of poss off spot ups/screens) but showed creation last season. Not afraid to let it fly from deep (6.3 attempts per game).

NEWS: 2026 6’10” C Kaleb Davis from Houston HS (Memphis, TN) has now heard from these programs since Monday, his agency Sports Network LLC tells me: NC State Villanova Seton Hall Texas A&M UAB UT Arlington In addition to Virginia Tech, Charlotte, La Salle + others 📈 Davis’ 7’3” wingspan + defensive instincts allow for him to be an elite rim protector and make an immediate defensive impact next season (2nd in 3SSB in BLKs). Still raw on the offensive end (impact limited to mainly PNRs), but as an incoming freshman, he has time to make strides in that aspect of his game. Would be a great developmental big for any HM+ programs looking for depth and will make an immediate impact next season for any MMs/LMs still looking for bigs. NEWS: Chattanooga transfer G Jordan Frison has committed to Wichita State, his agent Zach Lucchesi of Sports Network LLC tells me. The Memphis native averaged 16.4 PPG and 4.0 AST on hyper-efficient 56/46/82 shooting splits. Frison put up an excellent PPS of 1.25, shooting a ridiculous 69% at the rim as a small guard. Profiles as a shot-creating guard, shooting extremely well off the dribble (59.3% EFG with over 56% of jumpers OTD).

NEWS: Memphis is involved with Arizona State 6’3” G Anthony Johnson, per source. Averaged 13.2 PPG and 3.2 REB in just 25 minutes per game. Several HMs and MM+ schools are involved with Johnson, as he was recently a plaintiff in a Colorado injunction that granted him a 5th year of eligibility. Memphis is at the 15-player roster limit currently and Johnson did not enter the portal before the original deadline, so both are issues that likely need some sort of court relief.

NEWS: Memphis is involved with St. Bonaventure 6’7” transfer wing Daniel Egbuniwe, per source. Egbuniwe is a Memphis native and played at FACS for high school ball. Averaged 8.2 PPG and 3.2 REB per game last year on 42/40/74 shooting splits. A much improved shooter (10% increase), Daniel is a bouncy 3/D wing that fits well in most systems.

NEWS: Louisiana Tech 7’0” C Melian Martinez has been hearing from these schools recently, his agency Fdmathletics 🌍 tells me: Memphis, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Ole Miss, Charlotte, San Diego State, Xavier, + others Martinez led CUSA in BLKs and posted a 15.6% BLK% (99th percentile). Was named to the CUSA All-Defensive team and is one of the best defensive bigs in the portal. Averaged 4.2 PPG 2.9 REB and 1.7 BLK in 15.4 MIN per game last season.

2027 Team Thad 6’0” G Justin Frison out of Houston HS (Memphis, TN) had a dominant EYBL session in Memphis. 15.5 PPG | 9.5 AST | 6.5 REB | 2.9 STL | 52.5% FG | 50% 3PT (10-20) Frison is now hearing from these schools, his agency Sports Network LLC tells me: Creighton UAB Wichita State West Virginia Xavier Ole Miss Nebraska Murray State Miami Ohio Belmont I was most impressed with how Frison controlled the game this weekend. Sets up his teammates extremely well (EYBL leader in ASTs) and is pesky on the defensive end (EYBL leader in STLs). Doesn’t matter if he has the ball in his hands or not, Frison is a net positive on the court. Expecting his recruitment to blow up this summer. MM+/HM- schools should be all over him. Justin F.

NEWS: Memphis is setting up a zoom with Mississippi State transfer 6’10” big Jamarion Davis-Fleming, per source. Has held zooms with Kentucky, USC, Georgia, Marquette, and Vanderbilt. Was a 4⭐️ out of HS and played for Team Thad. Put up 3.7 PPG 4.8 REB and 1.3 BLK in 20 min per game as a freshman. Athletic, solid hands, and very good defensive instincts. Gets after it around the rim and would fit well in Memphis’ uptempo system as a rim-running, defensive-first big.

NEWS: South Georgia Tech 6’11” C Matt Mbole is currently visiting Memphis, he tells me. First by JucoRecruiting.com. Ranked as the #8 JUCO prospect by Ersin Demir . Averaged 10 PPG 12.2 REB and 2.6 BLK last season. Mbole is a force around the rim, with over 86.7% of FG around the rim (finishing 64% FG at the rim). Rebounds the ball extremely well (4.1 OREB per game). On the other side of the ball, he has a high motor and protects the rim really well. Doesn’t have much of a game outside of the paint, however, his game is needed and fits well at most schools. Most scouting websites have him slotted as a MM level big. Reportedly receiving MM/HM interest.

NEWS: North Alabama 6’9” big Corneilous Williams is set to visit Memphis on Wednesday, per source. Averaged 12.2 PPG and 9.3 REB last season. One of the best rebounders in the portal, Williams was in the 90th percentile for OREB% (12.9%) and the 88th percentile for DREB% (20.9%). Completed a zoom with Memphis staff already. UAB, Boston College, James Madison, FAU, Tulsa, Charlotte, Temple + others are also in contact with Williams.

NEWS: Memphis HC Penny Hardaway has been in steady contact with Arkansas State transfer 7’1” C Aly Tounkara, he tells me. Tounkara is a defensive-first big and has some very good defensive numbers: - 2.5 DRAPM (93rd percentile) - 6.6% BLK% (87th percentile) - 19.8% DREB% (83rd percentile) - (Also has a 13.3% OREB%, which is in the 92nd percentile) Tounkara is also in contact with several ACC + AAC programs, and players like him are a rare commodity in the portal currently.

NEWS: Memphis completed a zoom with Southern Miss 6”7” wing Tylik Weeks last week, he tells me. A load of HMs involved: Ole Miss, Auburn, Baylor, Oklahoma State, TCU, South Carolina + more. Averaged 19.7 PPG and 5.4 REB last season. Profiles as an athletic, shot-creating wing who loves to pick his spots in the mid-range (70% of jump shots were OTD 2s). Very good pickup for whatever school gets him.

Here’s a look at Briarcrest HS and new Memphis 6’5” G Parker Pounds (Parker Pounds). Pounds shot a blistering 48% from 3PT range this season (89/184). His size + elite shooting + motor on the defensive end make him an intriguing long term role player for Memphis. I’m told he turned down several D1 offers to stay home and play for Memphis, after conversations from HC Penny Hardaway the past few weeks. His HS/AAU coaches have raved about his humility, leadership + effort. Sounds like a really good dude to have in the locker room.
