In Las Vegas, Kevin Liu explained how most people don’t want to sell their BTC; they want it to work for them. That’s where sustainable, Bitcoin-native yield matters. GOAT Network’s approach is to keep things on Bitcoin’s rails and align incentives. Users keep self-custody and can park BTC in a time-locked “safebox.” Instead of speculative rewards, yield is sourced from the network’s real usage: as on-chain activity grows, fees/revenue are shared back to participants. More activity → more revenue → more yield - without relying on token emissions or hidden leverage. It’s a path to turning idle BTC into a productive asset while staying aligned with Bitcoin’s security model. He also introduced Mezo, a platform to open credit lines against Bitcoin, enabling people to spend stablecoins collateralized by their BTC – from burritos to big purchases – without triggering taxable events or liquidating their coins. In our recent episode with StarkWare 🥷 & Zcash 🛡️ Co-founder Eli Ben-Sasson | Starknet.io, we discuss Starknet (Privacy arc) 🥷's Bitcoin initiative as a return to first principles. Eli explains how Bitcoin today functions more like gold or real estate - a powerful store of value that mostly sits idle. To unlock lending, borrowing, and broader economic activity without leaving Bitcoin’s trust model, the system needs scalability, better UX, and expressive programmability. He argues that ZK-STARKs are the end-state for achieving this: a way to extend Bitcoin while preserving its core values of self-custody, decentralization, and censorship-resistance. This is the driver behind Starkware’s renewed focus on Bitcoin - bringing the same proof-based scalability used on Ethereum directly to Bitcoin infrastructure. What if your data worked for you instead of against you? In one of the most gripping talks at ZK Hub ETHDenver, Juan Angel (Juan), Ecosystem Growth at Nillion, made the case for “open but private” data - arguing that blind computation can break data out of corporate silos and let users lease it securely without ever revealing the raw inputs. Through real examples like encrypted genomic data (via Monatic DNA) and incentivized health prediction markets (Stadium Science), Juan painted a future where users hold the encryption keys, opt in to share data selectively, and get paid every time it's used.
