During Ali Khamenei funeral, the Iranian regime recited not-so-subtle verses from the Quran before each foreign delegation, carefully curated to signal how the regime feels about them exactly. Here is a sample: Hamas: “Among the believers are men who have proven true to what they pledged to God. Some of them have fulfilled their pledge, others are waiting their turn. They have never changed their commitment in the least.” Hezbollah: “Do not falter or grieve, for you will have the upper hand, if you are true believers. If you have suffered injuries, they suffered similarly. We alternate these days of victory and defeat among people so that God may reveal the true believers, choose martyrs from among you, and God does not like the wrongdoers.” Palestinian Islamic Jihad: "So that God may forgive you for your past and future shortcomings, perfect His favor upon you, and guide you along the Straight Path, and so that God will help you with a mighty victory." China: “God ordained this only as good news for you and reassurance for your hearts. And victory comes only from God.” Iraq’s Hashd al-Shaabi PMUs: "Never say that those martyred in the cause of God are dead; in fact, they are alive! But you do not perceive it." Saudi Arabia: “There was certainly a sign for you in the two armies that met in battle: one fighting in the cause of God and the other disbelieving. The believers saw their enemy twice their number. But God supports with His victory whoever He wills. Surely in this is a lesson for people of insight.” Qatar: "So that God may forgive you for your past and future shortcomings, perfect His favor upon you, and guide you along the Straight Path, and so that God will help you with a mighty victory." Turkey: “God has elevated in rank those who strive with their wealth and their lives above those who stay behind. God has promised each a fine reward, but those who strive will receive a far better reward than the others.” Pakistan: "And say, 'My Lord! Grant me an honorable entrance and an honorable exit, and give me a supporting authority from Yourself.'" Egypt: “Their reward with their Lord will be Gardens of Eternity, under which rivers flow, to stay there for ever and ever. God is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him. This is only for those in awe of their Lord.”

A Saudi religious cleric: “Greeting Christians with Merry Christmas is not an issue in sharia.” A young kid who probably never read the Quran: “Happy holiday* next to Islam’s holiest mosque? Bidaa!” [Not even “Merry Christmas”. Two layers of confusion]

I haven’t seen such relentless interrogation of Palestinian leadership before, esp. in Arabic. On Saudi Arabia’s main TV channel, Hamas leader is clearly startled by the intensity of the questions & responses to his answers. Crucial points in next tweets

Quite interesting that in Russia the Syrian embassy is raising the new flag of Syria. This swift and seamless change of embassy hands in Moscow is a bit surprising. No change of personnel even. HTS reached out to Russia and said it has no quarrels with it. Western countries..

Erbil-based Shams TV explains why they held off on airing their exclusive interview with Syrian President أحمد الشرع: The journalist explains that the pre-interview understanding from the channel was for the segment to serve as a way to calm the waters with regards to the Damascus-Kurdish conflict in Syria. He said the general vibe in Erbil is against the interview, and the Syrian president was savvy in his answers and emphasized he had no quarrel with the Kurdish people. Yet, the journalist says he was surprised that the president started off taking a hard line against the SDF. He says he tried to nudge him through questions toward a conciliatory tone, but he kept escalating. 'He had enough of General Mazloum and the SDF, and he would not give them another chance, only to adhere to the March agreement.' It was a final warning. He said he'd never accept to have a militia in the country, insisting on only one country and one army. The journalist said the interview was supposed to be 30 minutes but ran to 53. Afterwards, he said, he checked with his colleagues, and the consensus was that the interview would inflame things rather than calm the waters, so they decided to hold it until further notice.

Ahmad al-Sharaa: “For 14 years, the UN failed to get the Assad regime to release a single prisoner, return a single refugee, or agree to even minimal reforms that could benefit the regime itself. Now, it seeks to burden Syrians with outdated, rigid resolutions.”
