The Turkish government forces Kurds to live within a system they do not belong to and even when Kurds attempt to progress within that system they ensure that progress is swiftly pushed back. Once again this morning, Turkey removed 3 elected Kurdish Mayors from Kurdish cities (Elîh Batman, Halfeti Urfa and Merdîn) and replaced them with Erdogan’s AKP personnel. Clashes have been ongoing since the morning as the Kurdish people are fed up of the fascist Turkish government. Turkey responds with harsh police and army treatment, capturing those on the street, those standing against injustice. Turkey is a fascist dictatorship. And again, we will repeat, freedom for Kurds will only come with independence and statehood.

A few weeks ago, Nike removed an ad campaign featuring the song “Gold” by Artists Biji & Conducta. This song celebrates Kurdish culture with the lyrics, “I like to wear my gold, like a Kurdish mum.” Nike pulled the ad after an outcry from Turkish fascists and racists who cannot tolerate the existence of Kurdish culture. This action by Nike supports and condones these fascists and racists, setting a dangerous precedent. Retweet this and expose Nike’s hypocrisy on diversity. Apparently, their commitment to diversity excludes Kurds. Tag Nike and share this widely to expose their unacceptable behavior.

The Kurdish Community Centre in London Haringey faced an unwarranted raid, causing distress among its members. Metropolitan Police's (London police force) actions resembles those of fascist states and demands scrutiny. This center, frequented by families and hosting cultural events, was raided without cause. People were harassed whilst celebrating with their families. Kurds, who valiantly fought ISIS, now face interrogation and arrests. The British government seem to have forgotten how ISIS rampaged attacks throughout London whilst the Kurds gave thousands of lives in the Middle East to fight that ideology. These tactics, while distressing, raise concerns about appeasing leaders like Erdogan, known for supporting ISIS and influencing British youth. The situation is deeply concerning and warrants immediate attention. I urge all UK residents to raise concerns with their local MP’s. James Cleverly🇬🇧 do you care to comment on why the Kurdish community is being abused this way?
