Heartbroken over the passing of Debra Byrd, the vocal coach on American Idol. She encouraged and supported us from the very beginning ! I am so grateful for everything she taught us. She will be dearly missed, but her legacy lives on through the music of countless artists she influenced during her lifetime. Rest in peace, Debra.

This tour is full of full-circle moments! Today I’m back in New York City on the anniversary of becoming the youngest female EGOT, and I’m feeling nothing but gratitude. To be back here four years later, taking the stage tonight at Madison Square Garden makes this day even more special. Thank you for being part of this journey with me! All you got to do is dream…! ✨

It was on this very day in 2003 that my best friend walter williams III and I traveled all the way to Atlanta, Georgia for my American Idol audition ! 20 years, yal! Look at God !! I hopped on that American Idol roller coaster and it has been going ever since ! I’ve lived a lot of life since that day, but I’m still that same girl from the South Side of Chicago trying to get to my goals ! Thank u all for being on this journey with me !

It doesn’t get any better than singing with Andrea Bocelli! Performing “The Prayer” together is something I’ll always cherish, and then to debut our brand new song “One Right Here” at the Hollywood Bowl…AND to have the legendary songwriters of both of these beautiful duets at the piano…David Foster and Diane Warren. What an absolute dream! #OneRightHere is out October 2!

On this day in 2004, I was eliminated from American Idol! But God turned it around for my good! From Idol to EGOT baby !!! 20 years later, and now back on TV with my own show. Never give up on your dreams, yal! If I can do it, so can u! If it’s not worth working hard for, it’s not worth it at all ! Remember nobody knows your potential the way you do. Just keep the faith, keep believing, and keep going !!!

Returning to American Idol this week has brought back so many feelings! It’s been 22 years since I was a finalist and now I’m back as a mentor and guest judge. And on Disney week too!!! It was a Disney song that marked a major turning point in the competition for me so this really is a full circle moment! I cannot wait to watch as these finalists bring us their Disney best. Tune in tomorrow night at 8/7c!
