🇬🇷 Greek Prime Minister, responding at the NATO summit to a question on the possible arming of Turkey with F-35 fighter jets: “An alliance needs to be based on the fundamental principle of good neighbourly relations. At a time when my country is still faced with an open threat of war from Turkey, should we exercise a legal right, the sensitivities of all NATO Allies need to be taken into consideration.”

The Turkish regime is expanding its ballistic missile programs with support from China & Pakistan. The increasing range of these systems, combined with its aggressive expansionist policy pose a direct threat to European security and regional stability. The West must avoid repeating its past diplomatic failures with Iran by ignoring the potential threat from Turkey. #TurkeySecurityThreat

Cyprus 1984. Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash, admits in a British TV documentary that Turkish Cypriots were responsible for a false flag incident in 1958 – the planting of a bomb outside a Turkish consulate building in Nicosia – that triggered a wave of anti-Greek violence across the island and irreparably damaged intercommunal relations. Cyprus has never recovered from that night. On July 20 1974, on the pretext of protecting the 18% Turkish minority, but in reality in a land grab operation, Turkey violated American law, UN Resolutions and unleashed a brutal invasion killing thousands, creating 200,000 refugees and 50 years later, still illegally occupies 36% of the territory of the Republic of Cyprus.

🚨 Former Turkish diplomat explicitly acknowledges Greek sovereignty over the Imia islets. Article 12 of the Lausanne Treaty grants Turkey sovereignty only over islands within three miles of its coast. Imia lies 3.8 miles from the Turkish coast; as he states unequivocally, “this should not be a matter of debate.” ⚠️ Yet in 1996, Turkey manufactured a dispute, challenged Greek sovereignty over the Imia islets, escalated tensions by landing troops on one of them, and pushed the crisis to the brink of war. This expansionist aggression cost the lives of three Greek officers, who perished in a helicopter crash during the standoff-a tragic consequence of Ankara’s attempt to manufacture a sovereignty dispute where none existed under international law. Kuneralp’s candid and realistic interpretation deserves recognition. Genuine and lasting peace in the region will only come when Turkey abandons its expansionist claims and fully respects Greek sovereignty and international law.

May 19th is the day of remembrance of the Pontian Greek Genocide, to honor the memory of approximately 353,000 Pontian Greeks exterminated by Ottoman Turkey between 1916 and 1923. It was an organized plan by the Turkish authorities to achieve the turkification of the Ottoman Empire by eliminating the indigenous Greek population of Anatolia. #NeverForget
