“To me, it feels like working in your own grave, while you make your own casket.” Every morning before his shift at a textile factory in #Nagpur, 30-year old Ashish Narayan, a machine technician, straps a small recording device to his forehead. For the next several hours, the #camera tracks and records everything he does. From stitching workers to technicians and machine operators, workers across factories are being asked to wear such devices. Often, they do not know exactly what is being recorded, where the #footage is going, or how it may eventually be used. But in many cases, they are rarely in a position to refuse or reduce participation, especially in sectors where jobs are insecure. They are paid anywhere between Rs 200 and Rs 350 per hour. This whole exercise is part of a growing global push by AI and #robotics companies to gather what is being called “egocentric data”. That means 1st-person recordings of human activity that can teach #machines how people perform physical tasks. “During my last pregnancies, my uterus would slip down repeatedly... My mother-in-law suggested pushing the uterus back using my finger.” In #Maharashtra’s Nandurbar district, girls as young as 4 start fetching water with their mothers and grandmothers. For many, this becomes a lifetime of carrying water — through school-going years, menstruation, pregnancy and illness. If women do not fetch #water, the family has no water. The burden is not just the long walk. Many #women said they are forced to bathe and wash during menstruation in stagnant pools shared with livestock. Healthcare facilities remain distant, and their struggles remain largely undocumented. But until water reaches these hamlets, women will keep carrying it — through childhood, menstruation, pregnancy and illness. Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke said he will return to India on June 6 to launch a peaceful protest demanding Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation over the NEET paper leak controversy. The announcement comes shortly after the Delhi High Court declined to order the immediate restoration of CJP's X account. #ExpressInvestigation 🔍 | A 1-km road stretch in #Delhi can hold nearly 145 kg of dust. But the system meant to clean it is failing at almost every level. The Indian Express tracked Delhi’s mechanical road sweepers for over 300 days, analysing 18 million GPS data points. The investigation found that Delhi has just 95 sweeping machines — more than 80% short of the 505 recommended to control road dust. Even this limited fleet is not being fully used. In #summer, when road dust is at its worst, only 25 routes were active on a typical day. By March, that number fell to just 15. The deployment is uneven too, with machines concentrated more in VIP-heavy and better-funded zones, while outer areas get far less coverage. Sanitation workers walk up to 30 km a night beside slow-moving machines, often without specialised protective gear. And after collection, the dust is often dumped uncovered at open sites, where it can rise again. Experts say sweepers are only a temporary fix. The real solution lies in end-to-end road paving. A political controversy has erupted in #WestBengal after reports claimed that the Suvendu-led administration plans to remove the football sculpture designed during Mamata Banerjee’s tenure at Salt Lake Stadium. The statue is installed outside the Salt Lake Stadium and depicts a football player with both legs interacting with the ball while the upper body features only a football placed above the waist. For the 1st time ever, Delhi Police is filing FIRs for driving on the wrong side of the road. No more just paying a Rs 5,000 fine and moving on; offenders are now being booked under Section 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for rash driving. The two cases were recently registered in Delhi Cantonment and Kapashera. This shift comes after 3.05 lakh cases were reported in 2025 alone. Since traditional challans haven't acted as a sufficient deterrent, the police are now resorting to criminal charges to save lives on the road. If you are caught, your vehicle could be seized immediately, and you could face up to 6 months in prison. Because an FIR is registered, the violation cannot be settled through a simple online payment. You will have to physically visit the police station and appear before a magistrate in court to secure bail and get your vehicle released.
