I cried a lot after seeing this moment. In January, a student of the Kyiv Mohyla University, where I teach, Hlib Ivanov, died near #Bakhmut. This year, he was supposed to get a master's degree in political science. In the video, Hlib's parents will receive his diploma to loud applause. Hlib was supposed to build a new #Ukraine, but he died for it.

Children in captivity. It sounds wild, like it's about Nazi Germany. But this is about #Russia. Thousands of children are now kidnapped, murdered and brainwashed by Russia. Today, on International Children's Day, all our eyes should be on them. Children who are taken from their parents, children who are murdered, children who don’t remember who they are and where they are from. This is hell.

The Russians published a video in which they destroy the Ukrainian town of #Vuhledar with the help of multiple rocket launcher TOS-1A with thermobaric warheads. Civilians, including children, still live in the town. Russians like to destroy Ukrainians' homes with families inside.

The red carpet has been an offense to all Ukrainians. Rolling it out for someone who has killed, raped, and terrorized a whole nation is not what the leader of the free world should be offering. Making Ukraine responsible for peace while asking us to give up territory is extremely unfair — and not something the biggest democracy in the world should be doing.

It’s not just “territory” we are talking about. It’s tens of thousands of people whose fate is being decided when negotiators casually say “let’s move this line here, let’s move it there”. They will either live in a democratic Ukrainian state or under an authoritarian Russian regime – that is what is at stake. And it is also about long-term defence. We are holding parts of Donbas that Russia has tried and failed to capture since 2014. Why should we abandon positions they could not take by force and move into territory that is much worse protected?

As of early this evening (U.S. time), President Trump has said nothing. We are still waiting for a reaction, but after last night's terror in Kyiv, the silence feels deeply wrong. People were woken multiple times by missiles and explosions across the city. Four children were killed. This is not just news – it is a call for leadership. And yet the leader of the free world remains silent.
