Beijing-based KingKong Robotics has open-sourced the software toolkit for Jumper, the six-legged red crab robot that drew crowds at China's big AI and robot expos this summer. Open the GitHub repo in an AI coding assistant, and a one-line prompt can train new moves in simulation, design new shells or build new scenes.

Figure AI has decommissioned its F.02 humanoid fleet by training the robots to leap autonomously into molten steel at a foundry in Imatra, Finland, a send-off Arnold Schwarzenegger suggested on X. The company says it had to destroy the robots to protect its IP after foundries in the US and Mexico refused to take machines with lithium-ion batteries, and it is turning the recovered metal into commemorative artifacts.

The US Navy has ordered 30 medium unmanned surface vessels, 10 each from Saronic, HII and Galliano Marine Service, at an average of about 40 million dollars a hull, or roughly 1.2 billion dollars in total. All of them will be built at shipyards in south Louisiana. Saronic's design, Marauder, is a 180-foot autonomous ship that carries up to 150 tonnes and went from design to the water in under a year.

China says it will generate its first electricity from nuclear fusion around 2030 — after two 582-tonne toroidal field magnets, the largest superconducting magnets ever built for a fusion device, passed full-load testing in July 2026. Behind that date sit two "artificial suns": the EAST tokamak in Hefei, world record holder for sustaining a 100-million-degree plasma for 1,066 seconds, and the HL-3 tokamak in Chengdu, which has pushed atomic nuclei to 117 million degrees Celsius — nearly eight times hotter than the Sun's core. Let’s break down how a tokamak actually works, what China's fusion records really mean, the roadmap from 2027 to 2050 — and the honest catch nobody mentions. #NuclearFusion #ArtificialSun #FusionEnergy

Belgian company Xeryon, a 2013 spin-off from KU Leuven, builds ultrasonic piezo actuators for microscopes, lasers and chipmaking tools. Its motors vibrate about 100,000 times a second, position parts with encoder resolution down to 5 nanometres, and produce no magnetic field.
