There have been calls for a replica mosque and anti-Muslim signage placed on a loyalist bonfire in Co Tyrone to be removed. It is understood the miniature structure was placed on the pyre in Moygashel on Wednesday. Two signs have also been placed on the bonfire reading “secure our borders” and “end the threat of radical Islam”.

A teenager spread gallons of hen manure on a road before Ballymena’s first Pride parade as part “of a prank,” a court has heard. Coleraine Magistrates Court also heard that Isaac Adams (19) “made full and frank admissions” to police when he was arrested. Adams, from the Lislaban Road in Cloughmills, confirmed his identity and that he understood the three charges, all alleged to have been committed on June 28.

Eleanor Donaldson was paid a redundancy package after losing her job as senior secretary to her paedophile MP husband after being charged with aiding and abetting his child sex crimes, The Irish News understands. The funeral of senior IRA figure Brendan 'Bik' McFarlane was held in Belfast on Tuesday with large crowds gathering on the Cliftonville Road. He died aged 74 after a short illness on Friday. McFarlane was the officer in command of the H-Block prisoners during the 1981 hunger strike over conditions in the Maze and among 38 IRA inmates who escaped from the prison in 1983. Former Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams joined mourners for the mass of the republican who was jailed for an attack on the Bayardo Bar on the Shankill Road. Five people were killed and 60 others injured.

This is the moment Paul from Donegal's dream came true as he joined country superstar Zach Bryan onstage in Belfast. After spotting his sign in the crowd, Bryan invited Paul to perform Nine Ball with him. Paul told the Irish News: “My dad was actually in the toilet and I had to call him but he told me the second he heard my voice he was sprinting back to the golden circle shouting ‘that’s my son’ and everyone cleared a path for him. “When I came back he was crying and I am actually happier for him than I am for myself. Kevin Rous, a Wrightbus nightshift worker from the Philippines, had his Cullybackey home targeted during anti-immigration unrest in Ballymena last night. His car was burnt out while his wife and two children were inside his home. The disorder followed a protest in Clonavon Terrace where missiles were thrown at PSNI officers, properties were damaged, and barricades were set on fire.

'We won't let this be turned into a green and orange issue.. today is going to be about a peaceful protest' Up to 1,500 people are expected to take part in the ‘Great March for Gaza’, which has been organised by the Lurgan Branch of the Irish Palestinian Solidarity Campaign (IPSC). The route of the march on Saturday includes a section of the Newry Canal Towpath and passes through the mainly unionist village of Scarva, in Co Down. The Parades Commission has imposed restrictions on both the march and a loyalist counter-protest. The PSNI is facing calls to remove a “racist” display placed on a loyalist bonfire that mocks the plight of refugees and migrants. The hate-filled display has appeared on a controversial bonfire in the village of Moygashel, near Dungannon, Co Tyrone. 'The Sash is not a sectarian song' Gerry Adams has admitted he does enjoy some of the music played by loyalist marching bands and believes the Sash is not a sectarian song. The former Sinn Féin president said it was better to understand the “culture, the uniforms, the music”, adding “I like the music and all that goes with it”. But Mr Adams said that if the music and songs - from the Sash to those more “over the top” and overtly sectarian - are played where there is “any sort of invasion of people’s space (they) will become provocative and annoying”. An Alliance MLA has been ejected from the Stormont Assembly chamber after a row with the deputy speaker in which she accused him of “patronising” her. North Belfast MLA Nuala McAllister removed herself from the chamber after a request from the UUP’s Steve Aiken on Tuesday morning, the second day of the Assembly sitting after summer recess. The Alliance MLA later said the deputy speaker needed to “look at the way that you speak to many of the women in this chamber”.
